Therefore, at this stage the physical facilities and equipments as well as human resources are sufficient to meet the current and the near future needs of the HEP. However the needs and the requirements are continuously monitored so as to make sure the programmes could progress in the most efficient and smooth manner without any interruption at anytime. The library currently uses online enquiry form under the supervision of customer service department to obtain feedback from students. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) 6.1.11 State the policy on the use of ICT in the department. Describe the ICT infrastructure that supports the department and the programme. All students and staff of the HEP will be provided with a user name and password to enable them to have access to the usage of ICT of HEP. All other stakeholders may have access to the usage of HEP’s ICT upon request and registration. 6.1.12 List the ICT staff and their qualifications that support the implementation of the ICT policy at the departmental level. Refer to the attachment: 6.1 ICT staff and their qualifications 6.1.13 State the specific ICT requirement of this programme and how they are provided. There are currently altogether 2 operating laboratories (both are teaching laboratories). These laboratories are used for a wide range of educational and training purposes. These laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities; provide a suitable foundation for the development of knowledge and skills stated in the programme’s aims, objectives, and learning outcomes. With computer to student ration of 1:1, students are assured of high quality education and training, suited to the information and knowledge era. Students are also given the convenience and ease of online teaching and learning, unlimited internet access, and computer laboratory services. 6.1.14 Indicate what plans exist to improve the educational facilities -physical, library and ICT -- in line with the development in teaching practice. The HEP will continuously monitor the need for educational facilities to make sure that the programme will be run smoothly. Prompt actions will be taken to fill up any gaps from time to time. MEDIU is in the process of planning the construction of a state-of-theart university campus at Cyberjaya with modern library and ICT facilities. Information on Enhanced Standards 6.1.15 Explain how the HEP periodically reviews the adequacy, currency and quality of its educational resources and the role of the department in these processes. The HEP will continuously monitor the needs for educational facilities to make sure that the programme will run smoothly. Prompt actions will be taken to fill up any gaps from time to time. 6.1.16 Describe how students are provided with opportunities to learn the various and most current methods to access information. The students have full access to their lecturers and any relevant staff of HEP should they have any enquiries pertaining to the various and most current method to access information. Master in Da'wah (By Research) Page 6 of 11 Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) MQA-01 Document Area 6: Educational Resources The programme courses are designed to provide the students with opportunities to learn the various and most current methods to access information, through teaching and learning methods, assignments, and projects. 6.1.17 How are these facilities user friendly to those with special needs? Currently we do not have students with special needs enrolled into any of our programme. However the facilities will be provided for as and when there is need for them. Certainly, making the university facilities user friendly to those with special needs will be one of the primary design criteria in the construction of the university campus. 6.2 Research and Development (Please note that the standards on Research and Development are largely directed to universities offering degree level programmes and above.) Information on Benchmarked Standards 6.2.1 Describe the facilities and the budget allocation available to support research. Currently the HEP do not allocate any budget for research. However, the academic staff can use the available facilities and infrastructure in the HEP to conduct their research. They are also encouraged to source out research fund made available by external research fund organisation such as E-Science Fund. The HEP has the intention to develop research and development (R&D) to be one of the major activities and fund will be allocated appropriately. The HEP is still new therefore currently the emphasis is on the offering of programmes that have been approved by MoHE. 6.2.3 Describe how the HEP encourages interaction between research and learning. Show the link between the HEP’s policy on research and development and the teaching-learning activities in the department. Research results will be used as inputs to enhance the teaching and learning activities of the HEP. 6.2.4 State any initiatives taken by the department to engage students in research. The potential students will be educated throughout the programme on the importance of research; and, accordingly, they will be given the opportunity to be engaged in research activities at their level. Information on Enhanced Standards 6.2.5 Show the link between research, development and commercialisation. Currently MEDIU has yet to start research initiatives. However, the HEP being a university and research is one of the fundamental functions of a university. The HEP will develop the policies and infrastructure for research and development, and any research result that has commercial value will be dully commercialised. Not applicable 6.3 Educational Expertise Information on Benchmarked Standards 6.3.1 Describe the policy and practice on the use of appropriate educational expertise in the planning of educational programmes and in the development of new teaching and assessment methods. (Refer to the preamble to Area 6: Educational Resources on pages 23-24) Currently the HEP do not have enough internal educational expertise that are allocated to the development of new teaching and assessment methods, however as the needs arise the appropriate educational expertise will be employed to work with the existing staff to handle the planning of educational programmes and in the development of new teaching and assessment methods. Information on Enhanced Standards 6.3.2 Describe the access to educational expertise, both internal and external, and its utilisation for staff development and research. The HEP do not have any problem to access educational expertise for staff development and research. However in the long run as the HEP expanded and the need arise the HEP will have to develop its own internal educational expertise besides employing the external educational expertise. Master in Da'wah (By Research) Page 9 of 11 Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) MQA-01 Document Area 6: Educational Resources 6.4 Educational Exchanges Information on Benchmarked Standards 6.4.1 Describe the department’s practice in collaborating and cooperating with other providers, nationally and internationally, in compliance with the HEP’s policy. The HEP currently is enjoying good cooperation with other providers such as IIUM in the area of staff exchange and training. There is cooperation in the area of student supervising activities done by the HEP academic staff on individual basis. Other areas such as research and development will be explored for the future collaboration and cooperation with other providers. 6.4.2 Indicate how these are disseminated to students and faculty. They are disseminated to students and faculty through various means of communication such as website and brochure. Information on Enhanced Standards 6.4.3 Describe the future plans to strengthen national and international collaborative activities. The HEP is always seeking opportunities to collaborate with renowned academician or universities nationally and internationally in every aspect of educational activities such as research and writing, and academic staff, and student exchange. 6.4.4 Describe the facilities and financial allocation to support these exchanges. The HEP fully supports the educational exchange; the budget for the exchange will be from the operational budget on a case by case basis. The budget proposal for the HEP will be prepared by the finance department taking into consideration the financial and resource allocation needs of each department in the HEP. The budget proposal will be presented to the TMC for initial approval, then to the university council for final approval. 6.5.2 Demonstrate how the financial allocation dedicated to the programme -- and its utilisation -- is sufficient for it to achieve its purpose. The financial allocation will be dedicated to the various programmes in the propose budget and its utilisation and disbursement will be monitored and adjusted from time to time to guarantee its sufficiency. Information on Enhanced Standards 6.5.3 Describe how those responsible for the programme enjoy sufficient autonomy to allocate and utilise resources to achieve the programme objective. The financial allocation will be dedicated to the various programmes in the proposed budget, the Head of Department will be given the responsible and authorities to manage the allocated budget within certain rules and regulation pertaining to financial and resource allocation. The Head of Department will be responsible to monitor the budget and make the adjustment needed.
