Placement role: Junior Account Executive

Based in: Leith (Edinburgh), however travel to London will be required as you will be expected to attend
and work on client events in London. Travelling and accommodation expenses will be paid for by Ignition.
Reporting to: Joe McAspurn, Director
Start date for placement: ASAP
Hours and duration: Full-time, for 12-weeks. Some work will be in the evenings.
Salary: £3,000 (gross) in total for three-month placement (£1,000 per calendar month, paid in arrears).

Role
The successful intern will be working on a specific project for the agency’s main client, a leading
international bank. The project will involve developing an events manual, based on the agency’s existing
processes and practices.
The key tasks and responsibilities will include:


managing and implementing events.
Collating all forms required for approvals and reporting, relating to Ignition events.
Collating, reviewing and mapping-out checklists and process charts for all Ignition event
types, including separate processes for UK and international events (e.g. seminars,
internal briefings, celebration events etc.).
Reviewing timeplan templates for events.
Ensuring all checklist, timeplan, proposal and briefing templates are easily accessible
on Ignition server.
Attending at least one event of each type, assisting manager with event planning,
development, set-up, floor management and follow-up.
Compiling follow-up research from events.
Reviewing and updating reporting format for events follow-up.
Developing a case study based on the events.
What you will gain from this internship





You will gain practical hands-on experience in all administrative aspects relating to the
implementation of planned client activity, from development to delivery and then the process of
reporting.
You will gain insight and experience of agency protocols i.e. learning about Creative and Studio
briefings, getting involved in briefing external suppliers, the creative and artwork processes,
assisting in checking all client information thoroughly and proof reading accurately etc.
You will improve your knowledge and understanding of how to source the best venues, suppliers,
incentives and premia.
You will enhance your knowledge and understanding of the basic legal requirements and
production techniques required for marketing campaigns, events and promotional activity.
You will have the opportunity to develop your time management and prioritisation skills,
demonstrating the ability to inform your manager(s) of proposed actions, to find and present
solutions to problems where appropriate, but also seek your manager’s input.
Person specification
The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:













Educated to a degree level in Event Management with good knowledge and understanding of the
principles of marketing and events.
Self-motivated, enthusiastic individual with a ‘can-do’ approach.
Ability to use own initiative.
Strong organisational skills.
Good interpersonal skills with the confidence to communicate effectively with a variety of
individuals across all levels. This is critical for building good relationships with clients, agency
colleagues and external suppliers.
Effective oral communicator with good telephone manner.
Good numeracy and literacy skills.
High attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks at any one time.
Creative thinker with the ability to participate in brainstorms and to assist in recording the ideas
generated.
Ability to stay calm while working under pressure.
Basic understanding of financial services products and marketplace.
Basic understanding of marketing agency processes.
