ADMISSION TO PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION
HUMAN RELATIONS REQUIREMENT
2. Relationship to mission and strategic plan of institution, and/or college and department
goals and objectives:
These are new courses that meet the curricular needs of the department. In particular, the
courses on Islamic History 336 and Public History 202 help the department satisfy the
diversity and global education objectives of the university. History 255 is a new seminar
style course geared towards introducing first semester freshman to historical investigation.
3. Rationale:
The department has worked to increase the diversity of courses offered in all fields
of history, and to expand the lower-level course offerings. The removal of the unique
requirement for social sciences and chronological breadth avoids overlap in curriculum.
4. Cost Implications: Courses are offered as part of the instructors’ regular course rotation and
incurs no additional costs
