Part 1 – General
1.1
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A. The variable capacity, heat pump air conditioning system shall be a SAMSUNG
Electronics MINI DVM S ECO (Variable Refrigerant Flow) System.
B. The heat pump system shall consist of an AM0**FXMDCH/AA outdoor unit,
multiple indoor units (AM****N*DCH/AA models), and SAMSUNG DVM S
NASA Control Network Solution (Control systems). The AM0**FXMDCH/AA
outdoor unit shall be a horizontal discharge, 208/230 volt, single phase unit.
The AM0**FXMDCH/AA outdoor system model numbers and the associated
number of connectable indoor units per AM0**FXMDCH/AA outdoor unit is
indicated in the following table. Each indoor unit or group of indoor units shall
be independently controlled.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

The units shall be listed by Electrical Laboratories (ETL) and bear the ETL
label.

B.
All wiring shall be in accordance with the National Electrical Code (N.E.C.).
C.
The units shall be manufactured in a facility registered to ISO 9001 and
ISO14001 which is a set of standards applying to environmental protection
set by the International Standard Organization (ISO).
D.
A full charge of R-410A for the condensing unit only shall be provided in the
condensing unit. Additional refrigerant is required based on diameters and
lengths of system liquid refrigerant lines.
Part 2 – Warranty
2.01
WARRANTY
Applicable Only for SAMSUNG “DVM-S” and “DVM-S ECO” Systems
Distributed From January 1, 2014
1. LIMITED WARRANTY – QUIETSIDE CORPORATION (“QUIETSIDE”) warrants to
the original end-user (“you”) of SAMSUNG “DVM-S” or “DVM-S ECO” Air-Conditioner
and Heat Pump System (“Product”) that, if purchased from and installed by a contractor
licensed for HVAC installation under applicable local and state laws within the
continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii and Canada, and if it proves defective by
reason of defects arising from improper workmanship and/or material:
(a) FIVE YEARS ON PARTS. The parts are warranted for a period of five (5) years to
the original end-user of this Product. If it should prove defective due to improper
workmanship and/or material for a period of five (5) years from the date of
installation, QUIETSIDE will replace any defective part without charge for the part.
Parts used for replacement may be of like kind and quality and may be new or
remanufactured. Defective parts must be made available to QUIETSIDE in
exchange for the replacement part and become the property of QUIETSIDE.
(b) SEVEN YEAR COMPRESSOR WARRANTY. The compressor is warranted for a
total period of seven (7) years to the original end-user of this Product. If it should
prove defective due to improper workmanship and/or material for a period of seven
(7) years from the date of installation, QUIETSIDE will replace any defective
compressor without charge for the compressor. Compressors used for replacement
may be of like kind and quality and may be new or remanufactured. Defective
compressors must be made available to QUIETSIDE in exchange for the
replacement compressor and become the property of QUIETSIDE.
(c) NO LABOR. THESE LIMITED WARRANTIES DO NOT INCLUDE LABOR or any
other costs incurred for service, maintenance, repair, removing, replacing, installing,
complying with local building and electric codes, shipping or handling, or
replacement of the Product, compressors or any other parts. For items that are
designed to be maintained or replaced by the owner, the owner is solely responsible
for all labor and other costs of maintaining, installing, replacing, disconnecting or
dismantling the Product and parts (such as filters or belts) in connection with ownerDRAFT: 07/29/2014

required maintenance. Air filter cleaning and/or replacement for each applicable
indoor unit are owner-required maintenance, and labor for this procedure is not
covered under warranty.
(d) The warranty on the replacement compressor and replacement parts will be limited
to the unexpired term of the original warranty for the Product.
2. CONDITIONS – The Limited Warranty applies only if the Product: (a) was initially
installed within the continental United States, Hawaii or Canada and remains at the site
of its original installation (except for mobile home installations); and (b) was installed
and operated and maintained in accordance with all written instructions, all applicable
local laws, regulations, permits and building codes, and good industry practices.
3. THIS LIMITED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER damages caused by: (a) accident,
abuse, negligence or misuse; (b) operating the Product in a corrosive atmosphere
containing chlorine, fluorine, or any other damaging chemicals; (c) modification, alteration,
repair service by any person other than an authorized Product distributor, dealer or HVAC
contractor; (d) improper matching or application of the Product or components or loss of
refrigerant; (e) failure to provide proper maintenance or service to the Product according
to manufacturer’s instructions; (f) failure to apply, install, and operate the Product in
compliance with SAMSUNG’s (or QUIETSIDE’s) written instructions, training seminars
and recommendations; or (g) fluctuations in electrical power;(h) lightning, flood, fire or
other acts of God.
This Limited Warranty does not cover if the Product has not been paid for in full.
4.
TO OBTAIN WARRANTY SERVICE:
a) Contact the licensed contractor who installed the Product or the nearest licensed and
authorized contractor, dealer or distributor of any defect within the applicable warranty
time period.
b) Proof of the installation date by a licensed contractor is required when requesting
warranty service. Present the sales receipt, building permit or other document which
establishes proof and date of installation. Otherwise, this Limited Warranty shall be
deemed to begin one hundred twenty (120) days after the date of manufacture
stamped on the System. THE RETURN OF THE OWNER REGISTRATION CARD IS
NOT A CONDITION OF COVERAGE UNDER THIS LIMITED WARRANTY. However,
please return the Owner Registration Card so that QUIETSIDE can contact you if a
question of safety arises.
c) To obtain the name of the nearest authorized QUIETSIDE HVAC distributor, dealer or
contractor or additional information on warranty program, you may contact:

6. This Limited Warranty shall not be enlarged, extended or affected by, and no
obligation or liability shall arise or grow out of, QUIETSIDE providing, directly or
indirectly, any technical advice, information and/or service to you in connection with the
Product.
7. EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS LIMITED WARRANTY, QUIETSIDE
MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER REGARDING THE
PRODUCT. QUIETSIDE DISCLAIMS AND EXCLUDES ALL WARRANTIES NOT
EXPRESSLY
PROVIDED HEREIN AND ALL REMEDIES WHICH, BUT FOR THIS PROVISION,
MIGHT ARISE BY IMPLICATION OR OPERATION OF LAW, INCLUDING, WITHOUT
LIMITATION, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND OF
FITNESS FOR ANY
PARTICULAR PURPOSE. NO ONE IS AUTHORIZED TO CHANGE THIS LIMITED
WARRANTY IN ANY RESPECT OR TO CREATE ANY OTHER OBLIGATION OR
LIABILITY FOR QUIETSIDE IN CONNECTION WITH THE PRODUCT. QUIETSIDE
DISCLAIMS ALL LIABILITY FOR THE ACTS, OMISSIONS AND CONDUCT OF ALL
THIRD PARTIES (including, without limitation, the installing contractor) IN
CONNECTION WITH OR RELATED TO THE PRODUCT.
8. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL QUIETSIDE BE LIABLE FOR ANY
INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES INCLUDING, WITHOUT
LIMITATION, LOST GOODWILL, LOST REVENUES OR PROFITS, WORK
STOPPAGE, SYSTEM FAILURE,
IMPAIRMENT OF OTHER GOODS, COSTS OF REMOVAL AND REINSTALLATION
OF THE PRODUCT, LOSS OF USE, INJURY TO PERSONS OR PROPERTY
ARISING OUT OR RELATED TO THE PRODUCT WHETHER BASED ON BREACH
OF WARRANTY, BREACH OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF
QUIETSIDE HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE. IN NO
EVENT SHALL QUIETSIDE’S LIABILITY EXCEED THE ACTUAL PURCHASE PRICE
OF THE PRODUCT WITH RESPECT TO WHICH ANY CLAIM IS MADE.
9. Some states do not allow limitations on warranties or exclusions or limitation of
damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply.
10. This Limited Warranty gives the owner specific legal rights and the owner may also
have other rights that vary from state to state.
11. This Limited Warranty is valid only in the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii
and Canada, and it is not transferable.
12. This warranty contains the sole express warranty made by QUIETSIDE in
connection with the Product. No QUIETSIDE distributor, dealer or contractor or other

person is authorized to make any other warranties or representations on behalf of
QUIETSIDE in connection with the Product.

Part 4 – Products
HEAT PUMP OUTDOOR UNIT
4.01
A.
General:
1.
The heat pump outdoor unit shall be specifically used with
SAMSUNG DVM S Heat pump components. The SAMSUNG MINI
DVM S ECO HP outdoor unit shall consist of AM0**FXMDCH/AA
outdoor unit, indoor units (AM***FN*DCH/AA), and SAMSUNG DVM
S NASA Control Network Solution (Control systems).
AM0**FXMDCH/AA outdoor units shall be equipped with multiple
circuit boards that interface to the SAMSUNG DVM S NASA Control
Network Solution (Control systems) and shall perform all functions
necessary for operation. The outdoor unit shall have a powder
coated finish. The outdoor unit shall be completely factory
assembled, piped and wired. Each unit shall be run tested at the
factory.
2.
The sum of connected capacity of all indoor air handlers shall range
from 50% to 130% of outdoor rated capacity.

3.
The heat pump system compressors shall be SAMSUNG,
hermetically sealed, inverter driven, Twin BLDC Rotary type. No
fixed capacity compressors shall be present in the refrigerant system.
4.
The outdoor unit shall have a sound rating no higher than listed in
the table below.

Both refrigerant lines from the outdoor unit shall be insulated.

The heat pump outdoor unit shall have an accumulator

The heat pump outdoor unit shall have a high pressure safety switch,
over-current protection, thermal fan protection, low pressure
protection, compressor overcurrent protection, fan motor voltage
protection, current transformer(s), crank case heaters, and intelligent
logic to ensure proper operation within unit design limitations and
operational parameters.
8.
The heat pump outdoor unit shall have the ability to operate with a
maximum height difference of 163 feet with the condensing unit
installed higher than the indoor units or 131 feet with the condensers
installed lower than the indoor units. The greatest length is not to
exceed 492 (574 equivalent) feet between outdoor unit and the
farthest indoor unit.
9.
The heat pump outdoor unit shall be capable of operating in cooling
mode between 23°F ~ 120°F outside ambient temperatures.
10.
The heat pump outdoor unit shall be capable of operating in heating
between -4F ~ 75F ambient temperatures.
11.
The heat pump system shall have installer enabled snow blowing
settings to prevent snow accumulation in front of idle outdoor units
during when below 35º F.
12.
The heat pump shall have the ability to adjust cooling and heating
temperature/pressure compensation values depending on project
conditions thus saving energy.

13.
The heat pump outdoor unit shall have a high efficiency oil separator
plus additional logic controls to ensure adequate oil volume in the
compressor is maintained.
14.
The heat pump outdoor unit shall have a flat plate type sub-cooler to
sub cool liquid refrigerant further to increase capacity and
performance with long pipe lengths and to decrease refrigerant
sounds at indoor equipment.
15.
The heat pump system shall have optional night quite modes to
reduce unit sound in evenings.
16.
The heat pump system shall have current control to limit current
adjustable at outdoor unit. Maximum current limitation shall 3 levels
of current limitation from design current.
17.
The heat pump outdoor unit shall have a removable EEPROM at the
main PCB to store all unit data. All data on the outdoor unit EEPROM
shall be viewable from the manufacturer provided service software.
The outdoor unit main EEPROM shall be removable allowing
replacement of outdoor unit PCB without losing digital, field
programmed data. The outdoor unit removable EEPROM shall store
the following unit data: unit model number, unit serial number, unit
main PCB firmware and MICOM version, sub-PCB firmware and
MICOM version, fan PCB firmware and MICOM version, inverter
PCB 1 and inverter PCB 2 firmware and MICOM version, auto-trial
commissioning startup data, the last 30 minutes of operation data,
and field programmed unit name/tag viewable on controls and
service software.
18.
The heat pump outdoor unit shall have outdoor unit pump-down
operation capability allowing storage of refrigerant while opening
sealed refrigerant pipe system outside of outdoor unit chassis while
performing service. The outdoor unit refrigerant storage shall be
greater than the supplied factory R-410A charge.
19.
The heat pump outdoor unit shall have individual outdoor module
pump-out operation capability allowing the majority of refrigerant in
an outdoor unit to be pumped out. The pump-out feature shall allow
service of sealed refrigerant system within an outdoor unit chassis.
20.
In the event of system error due to outdoor unit failure, the heat pump
outdoor unit shall display codes that specify a precise error and
which outdoor unit PCB is the cause.
21.
The heat pump outdoor unit shall have adjustable defrost operation
characteristics (4 total options) adjustable at the outdoor PCB.

Unit Cabinet:

The chassis shall be fabricated of galvanized steel, bonderized and
finished with a powder coated baked enamel.
Fan:
1.
The heat pump outdoor unit shall be furnished with 2 axial fans with
BLDC motors.
2.
General:
a.
All fan motors shall have inherent protection, thermal protection, and
have permanently lubricated bearings, and be completely variable
speed.
b.
All fan motors shall be mounted for quiet operation.
c.
All fans shall be provided with a raised guard to prevent contact with
moving parts.
d.
The outdoor unit shall have horizontal discharge airflow.
D. Refrigerant:

a.
R410A refrigerant shall be required for the heat pump system.
b.
Additional refrigerant is required. Amount is based on installed
refrigerant pipe diameters and lengths.
Coil:
a.
The outdoor coil shall be of nonferrous construction with lanced or
corrugated plate fins on copper tubing.
b.
The coil shall be protected with an integral metal guard.
c. Refrigerant flow from the outdoor unit shall be controlled by means of
capacity modulation capable Twin BLDC Rotary compressor.
F.
Compressor:
1. The 208/230 VAC heat pump systems shall have the compressor quantity
noted in the table below. All compressors shall be modulation capable, DC
inverter, Twin BLDC Rotary type.

2. General:
a.
Crankcase heaters shall be factory mounted on the compressor.
b.
The outdoor unit compressor shall have a variable modulation
technology to modulate capacity.
c.
The compressor will be equipped with an internal thermal overload.

The compressor shall be mounted to avoid the transmission of
vibration.
G. Electrical:
a.
The outdoor unit electrical power shall be 208/230 volts, 1 phase, 60
hertz.
b.
The 208/230 VAC unit shall be capable of satisfactory operation
within voltage limitations of 187-228 volts (208V/60Hz) or 207-253
volts (230V/60Hz).
c.
The outdoor unit shall be controlled by integral microprocessors.
d.
The control circuit between the indoor units and the outdoor unit shall
be 0.5VDC - 7VDC completed using stranded, annealed copper
conductor, 16 AWG, shielded, two-core cable to provide total
integration of the system.
4.02 ELECTRONIC EXPANSION VALVE KITS (MULTI ZONE) FOR HEAT PUMP
OUTDOOR UNITS (MXD)

The MXD EEV Kit shall allow a liquid and suction pipe from the
condenser to connect and meter refrigerant to 2 or 3 wall
(AM0**FNTDCH/AA) or under-ceiling units (AM0**FNCDCH/AA).
The MXD units shall be equipped with a circuit board that interfaces
to the SAMSUNG DVM S NASA Control Network Solution (Control

systems) and shall perform all functions necessary for operation.
The unit shall have a galvanized steel finish. The MXD EEV kit shall
be completely factory assembled, piped and wired. Each unit shall
be run tested at the factory. This unit shall be mounted indoors. Only
compatible with DVM S heat pump systems (AM****XVA*H/AA and
AM0**FXMDCH/AA). The length of pipe between an MXD EEV kit
and a single indoor unit cannot exceed 65 actual feet. The MXD EEV
kit selection is based on the quantity of units and capacity of each
according to the table below.

unit shall be 0.5VDC - 7VDC completed using stranded, annealed
copper conductor, two conductor, 16 AWG, shielded cable to provide
total integration of the system. Operation is based on communication
on this main communication cable.

The MEV-A**SA device is a single zone electronic expansion valve
for Samsung DVM wall-mounted units (AM0***NTDCH/AA) and
under-ceiling units (AM0***NCDCH/AA). Compatible with DVM S
heat pump systems (AM****XVA*H/AA, AM0**FXMDCH/AA) and
DVM S Heat Recovery Systems. The MEV-A**SA EEV installs inline
on the liquid line for a single unit. It must be located nearby the unit,
within 7 feet (of pipe) between the MEV-A**SA and the connected
indoor unit. The appropriate expansion valve should be selected
based on the capacity of the connected unit per the table below.
The single zone EEV is powered and controlled directly from the
indoor unit that it is metering refrigerant to via included wire harness.

1.
The wall-mounted indoor unit section shall have a slim silhouette and
must be installed with an external modulating linear expansion valve
(MEV-A**SA) or two/three room EEV (Electronic Expansion Valve)
kits. The wall-mounted indoor unit shall be compatible with DVM S
HR (Heat Recovery) outdoor units and MCU (Mode Change Unit,
MCU-S*NEE1N) or DVM S HP (Heat Pump) outdoor unis. The wallmounted indoor unit shall support individual control using SAMSUNG
DVM S NASA Control Network Solution (Control systems). Indoor
model numbers shall be: AM007FNTDCH/AA, AM009FNTDCH/AA,
AM012FNTDCH/AA, AM018FNTDCH/AA, AM020FNTDCH /AA,
AM024FNTDCH/AA.
2.
Each system shall perform in accordance to the ratings shown in the
table below. Performance shall be based on nominal cooling
conditions of 80F DB, 67F WB for the indoor unit and 95F DB for
the outdoor unit and nominal heating conditions of 70F DB for the
indoor unit and 47F DB, 43F WB for the outdoor unit.

Indoor Unit:

System Model Number
The indoor unit shall be factory assembled, wired and run tested.
Contained within the unit shall be all factory wiring, piping, control
circuit board and fan motor. An optional electronic modulating linear
expansion valves is available for accessories. The unit shall have a
self-diagnostic function, 3-minute time delay mechanism, an auto
restart function. Indoor unit and refrigerant pipes shall be charged
with dehydrated air (Nitrogen gas) before shipment from the factory.

BACnet® GATEWAY (MIM-B17N)
A. Function:
1.
Easy control and monitoring through web browser (optimized for
Internet Explorer). Individual/Group control of up to 256 indoor units
(indoor quantity will vary based on number of control points
necessary, see table below) including SAMSUNG ERV’s and air
handlers.
2.
The BACnet® gateway shall have basic operation controls which can
be applied to an individual indoor unit, a group of indoor units (up to
256 indoor units), or all indoor units (collective batch operation). This
basic control set of operation controls for the BACnet® gateway shall
