Stephanie will also need a work site that is supportive and is willing to work with her to integrate her into the company. b. Areas potentially needing negotiation with local employers: 4 Marc Gold & Associates©2014 4101 Gautier-Vancleave Rd. Ste. 102 Gautier, MS 39553 228-497-6999, fax 228-497-6966 www.marcgold.com MG&A Areas potentially needing negotiation with local employers for employment for Stephanie include several factors. Time frame for when Stephanie will be available for work due to her prior scheduled services and the length of time that she will be capable of working due to limited work experiences. Stephanie’s availability based upon transportation availability would need negotiated as well. The need for a specific workspace in a quiet environment would need to be discussed. Stephanie’s need for support staff when first starting into new employment and then fading away as she becomes familiar with and acquires the skills needed to complete the tasks. c. Physical/health restrictions: Stephanie struggles with stuttering at times. The stuttering worsens when she is rushed, anxious or stressed. She communicates with others in an appropriate manner. She maintains eye contact with those she is speaking with. She watches facial expressions and will focus on one speaker at a time to hear what is being said due to her hearing loss. Stephanie needs time to process what is being said to her. She utilizes hearing aids to assist her when communicating with others. d. Habits, routines, idiosyncrasies: Stephanie likes to know what she will be doing each day. She prefers to be kept busy when asked to work. “Downtime” for her is difficult when in a work setting. She adheres to some schedules, but can be flexible at the same time. e. Challenges associated with disability/need for accommodation & disclosure: Stephanie needs to continuously practice previously acquired skills so that she does not regress and lose the skills she already has. She also needs to work in an environment that will support her hearing loss. She communicates verbally, but may struggle with stuttering should she become stressed, anxious or rushed. Stephanie needs time to process what is being asked of her. Should Stephanie become frustrated, she may lash out verbally and/or physically to those around her. It is important for Stephanie to have time to process and to get up and move away from what she is doing until she has calmed down. f. Financial issues: Stephanie receives SSI and has a small paycheck on a bi-monthly basis for the work she completes at the Arc Vocational Training Center. She is supported otherwise by her mother and father. g. Transportation issues: Stephanie relies totally on her parents for transportation, but should she obtain employment in the near future, Stephanie may not be able to rely on her parents for the transportation necessary to get back and forth due to their work schedules. h. Promising solutions: Current, past or potential: 5 Marc Gold & Associates©2014 4101 Gautier-Vancleave Rd. Ste. 102 Gautier, MS 39553 228-497-6999, fax 228-497-6966 www.marcgold.com MG&A Stephanie has a support plan in place that addresses behavioral issues that may occur when she is upset/frustrated. Stephanie knows what to do when she is feeling upset/frustrated. It would be beneficial to those working with Stephanie to be trained on the plan.
