They can show hospitality at school, church, and at home. It’s helping and showing others respect. We discussed that when people greet them into the church, that’s a sign of hospitality. This is the same that goes when they welcome visitors into their home. We also learned about creation and when God created the world, sky, moon, stars, animals, Adam, and Eve. They created a flip chart with sentences and pictures of what God created on the different days. Math We finished up subtraction this week. The biggest topic they learned about were fact families and how three numbers can be written into four different math sentences. They got the hang of it pretty quick. They also have been practicing their math facts a lot this week and using the xtramath website. I heard that practically everyone is doing it at home and that’s awesome! It’s a great extra practice! Reading They read on their own and searched for nouns! Writing This week we started learning about descriptive paragraphs. We started the prewriting stage. They had to choose someone they wanted to write a descriptive paragraph about. I am modeling it first before they write their own. Grammar We started learning about nouns. They brainstormed on large sheets of paper different examples for place nouns, people nouns, and thing nouns. We then went into more detail and started learning about common and proper nouns. Nouns are everywhere! Science/ Social Studies We finished three chapters for science so we are now moving onto a couple chapters for social studies. The first chapter is about communities and the three different types of communities, urban, suburban, and rural. We will be comparing these three types of communities tomorrow. Have a great weekend!
