JOB DESCRIPTION
Ref. R4/51:RMS/FINANCE MANAGER
Grade 6; Reports to Regional Manager
OVERALL SUMMARY
To manage and be responsible for ensuring the effective development and maintenance of
all business processes relating to the membership system. To be responsible for processing
the office budgets To manage a team of support staff. To deputise for other Level 6 posts in
the administrative support team.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Managerial/Leadership
 Manage the RMS Learning Support staff within the Team and the clerical support
staff member involved in the Finances for both the Regional Office and Lay Budgets.
 To participate in the recruitment and selection of staff as required, and the induction
of new staff.
 To deputise for other Level 6 posts as appropriate. Lead Team Meetings and conduct
Development Review Process.
Financial
 In liaison with appropriate Regional Manager monitor expenditure and income on a
monthly basis reporting to the Regional Manager.
 Action all authorised payments and manage the expenditure for goods and services
for the Regional Office.
 Use relevant electronic authorisation systems, e.g. DCal, maintain petty cash system.
Prepare invoices as required.
 Produce financial reports as and when required.
Administration
 Review and maintain the membership function across the Region.
 Liaise with RMS Operations at National level.
 Implement new processes and procedures.
 Provide support to staff and branches on the effective use of the membership system
to help achieve UNISON objectives.
 Prepare membership information for industrial action ballots in accordance with
UNISON’s procedures.
 Ensure that efficient and effective administrative systems are in place to support our
organising culture

To be able to use a wide range of Information Technology including all Microsoft
applications.
Sound knowledge of large databases and their application
Knowledge of electronic budgeting and financial systems and their application.
Ability to use all forms of communication effectively and efficiently.
