Eyes on Payment at the 2nd World Cards and Payments China focus
The 2nd World Cards and Payments China Focus will be held on September 13-14, 2012, in
Shanghai China.
According to the latest research, global mobile payment trading volume is about 240 billion
dollars and the number will reach 1000 in 2015. East Asia and China, Western Europe, and
Northern America will be the largest three mobile payment markets, and these three markets will
account for 75% of global turnovers in 2015.
Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the E-Commerce 12th Five-Year Plan,
which requested to boost establishing and spreading mobile payment standard and promote the
popularization of mobile electronic business applications, including mobile payment, buying
tickets for public transportation, public services paying and supermarket shopping. What’s more,
this plan also required the e-commerce turnover should reach 18 trillion by the end of 2015.
Mobile payment, as an important part in mobile e-commerce, surely will be supported by the
government.
Obviously, China’s M-payment market experienced dramatic growth in 2011. For one thing,
trading volume reached 74.2 billion RMB, and the number of M-payment users arrives in 187
million. For another, multiple payment enterprises launched M-payment strategies as well as
products, meanwhile, China Union Pay and three big operators initiated layout for M-payment
market.
Although China exerts itself to explore the development of payment, it is still at the preliminary
stage for M-payment, and encounters many challenges such as security problem, technology
standard disunity, vague business model and customers’ habit.
