BEE-BOT STEM ROBOTICS
OBJECTIVE
Prepare and Network
3:30 – 3:40
• Open software downloaded from server or
from www.terrapinlogo.com
• Introduce yourself
• Designate who will take notes for feedback
• Play with a robot
BEE-BOT STEM ROBOTICS
OBJECTIVE
Use software, robots and mats to learn the physical

Computational Thinking and TEKS
• Learn to think about and design solutions to
problems.
• Sequencing and directions
• Numbers and operations
• Measurement
• Algebraic reasoning
• Patterns & spatial reasoning
• Develop an understanding of programming,
prediction and self-evaluation
• Story Telling and Exploration

Systems Model for the
Number Line Counting Game
Goal: Program the E-Bot to move to the number that matches the correct
number of Bee-Bots on the flash card.
INPUT
•Forward Directional Command
•Go Control Command
FEEDBACK
Did the E-Bot stop on the number
that matches the correct number of
Bee-Bots on the flash card?
PROCESS
1. Count Bee-Bots on the flash card
2. Click forward command to match
number of Bee-Bots on Flash Card
3. Click Go command
OUTPUT
1. Code with forward commands
2. The E-Bot stops on a number
•If Yes, click the next flash card.
•If No, count how many forward
commands are on the code then delete
or add needed forward commands.
Teacher notes: Algebraic Thinking – number sense
Observe if student is using a finger to count. Note students who can “see” sets of Bee-Bots without using finger. This shows fluency
relationships of sets of objects. I found older students who used their fingers were the same students who all TAKS tests.
Objective
Use FORWARD and BACKWARD directional commands
Use PAUSE (think), CLEAR (start), GO (end) control commands
3:45 – 3:55
1. Open Bee-Bot software
2. Scroll to last E-mat with numbers
3. Click on arithmetic activity tab and do the counting,
addition and substraction number-line lessons using
the E-bot.
4. Observe the problem-solving process using the
systems model.
NOTE: Let your students figure out how to subtract by
themselves!
Objective
Use FORWARD, BACKWARD, LEFT, RIGHT directional commands
Use PAUSE (think), CLEAR (start), GO (end) control commands
3:55 – 4:00
1. Open the Shapes E-mat
2. Do each of the shape lessons using the E-bot
3. Can you create a systems model creating
your own game?
Objective
Learn to use the Bee-Bots and Mats.
Brainstorm how they can be used in your classroom.
Create a list of ideas.
4:00 – 4:20
• Use Alphabet Mat
• See Pocket Mat
• Sets of Command Cards
PLEASE: Email the list of ideas and any other comments or
feedback collected. Then take a break and get a snack.
Objective
Learn Why Computer Science is Important

Objective
Master the software and play with the Bee-Bot app.
4:35 – 4:55
• Use color and speed attributes
• Play 3-letter spelling game
• Experiment with software.
• Play I-Pad Garden app
Objective

• Google “Bee-Bot” – all ES in UK have Bee-Bots
Objective
Discuss and email action plans.
5:05 – 5:25
1. What did you learn?
2. How do you see using this?
3. How will you share with other teachers at
your school?
4. What support do you need to make Bee-Bots
a go to item in your class/school?
5. Do you want follow-up PD?
