Essential Questions:
1. To what extent are memories (and memoirs) trustworthy?
2. How does having different sentence structures affect writing?
Enduring Understandings
1. Memoirs are different than autobiographies; they do not cover the writer’s entire life, and are
more focused on emotion.
2. Memories are created and changed by telling and re-telling stories.
3. There are different kinds of sentence structures including: simple, combined, compound, and
complex. Students will be able to identify and write all four.
