1. MI DIARIO DE LAS VACACIONES DE INVIERNO: Each day of winter vacation, write a diary entry in
Spanish about what you & others did that day. Write in PRETERITO; use your orange handouts to write
correctly with regular & irregular past tense. Use lots of verbs from Spanish 1 & Spanish 2.
2. LA CASA DE MIS SUEÑOS: Create a floor plan of your dream house with rooms, furniture, etc
labeled in Spanish. You may also write Spanish sentences to describe (ser) or tell locations (estar) of items
in your house. You could write a paragraph in Spanish about why you like your dream house, what you do
in the rooms, etc. Use PRESENTE (present tense) & lots of vocab.
3. VE UNA PELICULA EN ESPAÑOL: Watch a movie that you are familiar with, in Spanish. As you
watch, write an ongoing list of Spanish words you understand OR that you can figure out from the context.
After you watch, write a paragraph in Spanish telling your opinions of the movie (presente/present tense)
and what the characters did (pretérito/past tense).
4. FLASHITOS: Quiz yourself on Vocab from Spanish 1 (all) & Spanish 2 Chapters 1-3 and Questions from
the Chapter 1 Practice Test, Packet 2.1, Packet 2.2, &/or Expresate from Chapters 1 &2. As you quiz
yourself, make Flashcards (English & illustration on 1 side / Spanish on the other side; OR Spanish question
on 1 side / English translation & Spanish answer on other side). You will only receive credit for flashcards
that were not already assigned. Example: Locations (arriba, alrededor,...), Questions, any Chapter 3 Vocab.
5. CONCURSO (CONTEST by the CENTER FOR SPANISH STUDIES):
This is an annual contest. This year the contest honors author Miguel de Cervantes, one of the most important
Spanish writers, on the 400th anniversary of his death.
Tema: The topic should be related to the following quote from Cervantes’ master piece, Don Quijote de la Mancha:
“Sancho, freedom is one of the most precious gifts that has been bestowed upon human beings.”
“La libertad, Sancho, es uno de los más preciosos dones que dieron a los seres humanos”.
Write 1 entry, either prose or poetry, about the topic, in Spanish.
Required format: Word document, 1.5 spaces, Times New Roman 12. Max 500 words or 60 verses. It doesn’t have to be that
long!! Due Date: Writing & Cover Sheet due by email to Sra. Friedenson by Feb. 23.
FORMAT FOR OPTIONS #1-4: *Must be hand-written (not typed).
DUE DATE FOR OPTIONS #1-4: martes el 5 de enero

*You may look up only 1 new word per 30 words written. More new words than that, or internet
translation, or too much help, will result in “0” credit & a cheating referral.
