The face on the tornado is saying in a speech bubble “You -Two cars crashing represent the battle of seven oaks which was between the HBC and NWC. The battle started because of governor from the Selrik colony who created a rule that pemmican was to not be taken out of the colony. He also created law that running of buffalo was then illegal which would stop aboriginals from gaining food, clothing and income. The Metis were angered with this so they threatened to burn crops and house; they also threatened to steal animals and agriculture tools. The battle only lasted 15 minutes but resulted in the two companies merging into one -The buffalo represents the fur trade which happened with the aboriginals and the HBC and NWC before they were one company. Above this flag is a man; the same one who’s face is on the tornado and he is getting rained on by the rain cloud but with these two flags there is an arrow above them pointing to a bird with a cloth in its mouth, on the cloth it says Manitoba 1870 and in the cloth is a baby. Then to the left of this there is a man who has just gotten struck by lightning; the lightning bolt says Batoche and Nov 1885 and has because European men from the NWC where encouraged to marry first nations women to help create a bond with the company and their providers so when they would marry they would also have children who would be Metis. - The Men holding on to the tornado represent the NWMP because they were ordered by John A Macdonald to control the west and were on his side, they also fought in many battles such as Batoche, they also had a big role in helping Canada expand west by occupying the west area so Americans would not come in and claim the land -the building that has 3 steps four columns and a roof is a symbol for government which just shows what John A Macdonald’s role was supposed to be -The man he is saying ““You can go build the CPR now!” is Hugh Allan who promised by John to build the CPR when Hugh bribed John with campaign money which helped him win the election which was known as the Pacific Scandal where people from the liberal party found out this happened and then made him close parliament and they had to investigate this case but what ended up happening is John A Macdonald investigated is own case so it was very biased and he ended up going back into parliament and then created the National Policy -the arrow pointing into the box represents going in and the box that has a dollar sign, the word tax and a maple leaf which together represents the tariffs died, this man is the same on who was above the flag with the infinite sign who has curly hair and a mustache. The flag to the left represents Canada because was their flag, the man above it is John A MacDonald who led Canada and these two flags beside each other represents the Red River Rebellion because it was those two groups that were fighting but John A Macdonald is getting rained on from the raincloud because Canada ended up losing this Rebellion; the causes of the rebellion was but with the arrow pointing to the bird with a cloth holding a baby in its mouth represents how this rebellion caused Manitoba to be created with the Manitoba Act in 1870 -The creek with a fish in it is a symbol for the fish creek battle and the duck beside it is a symbol for the battle at Duck Lake and the lightning bolt is a symbol of defeat at the final battle of Batoche for Louis Riel. The whole picture represents the North-west rebellion and the causes of it was the aboriginals had issues with the buffalos becoming distinct also most of their land had been given away in treaties; Canadians were building railways and towns on their land. The Metis had not been happy with the creation of Manitoba and the buffalo becoming extinct did not help them either, -The person in a prison outfit going into the school and the same person leaving it but with a maple leaf on their shirt represents the Residential schools they forced aboriginal children to go to and how they were treated just as badly if not worse as prisoners and were expected to leave the residential schools being more Canadian and religious than when they arrived by making them speak English, believe in god and pray and by punishing them.
