THE TOWN COUNCIL
Stotfold Town Council consists of 15 Councillors.
Direct responsibility lies under the following committee headings:
Planning - As a consultee to Central Bedfordshire Council.
Recreation Grounds, Public Lands and Lighting
The Town Council maintains 196 streetlights, the three Recreation Grounds, Centenary Wood, the Millennium
Green and the MUGA facility, Norton Road Allotments and manager’s of Common Road Allotments.
Cemetery Management - Maintaining the Cemetery.
Buildings Management - Maintaining and managing the Memorial Hall and the Simpson Centre.
The Town Council also comments to the higher tiers of Local Government: Central Bedfordshire Council, on
matters such as Education, Policing, long term planning for the town, etc.
The Town Council office is the place to raise matters such as defective streetlights, litter problems and highway
problems i.e potholes. Although not the direct responsibility of the Town Council these issues can be forwarded
to the relevant authorities for action.
If you feel strongly about any issues arising in the town however large or small the Town Council are happy to
look into it for you. You can be rest assured that the Members and staff of the Stotfold Town Council will try and
rectify problems as quickly as possible.
With the help and support of the local residents the Town Council will be able to ensure that Stotfold retains the
community feel through the changes that will be seen in the next five to ten years.
The Town Councillors have been elected by the local Community to work for the local Community, use your
voice to help things happen!!

EDUCATION
Education in Bedfordshire is currently provided on a three-tier level. Lower ages four to nine years, Middle ages
nine to thirteen years and Upper level ages thirteen to eighteen years. Stotfold has three Lower schools whilst
Middle school provision is supplied on the edge of neighbouring Arlesey and Upper school provision is at
Shefford, a fifteen minute bus ride away.
