The Earth, Sun, and Moon By : Josh Goings and Caleb lamm size • The size of the moon is 3476 km (diameter) one fourth of the Earth. • The Earth is 12756 km (diameter) • The Sun’s diameter is 1,392,000 km Gravity • If you are 60 pounds on earth you are 10 pounds on the Moon. • The Earths gravity is 6 times more than the moon • The sun’s gravity is 28 times stronger than Earth. Water • There is a big amount of water on the moon but all of it is frozen. • 71 % of Earth is water. • The Sun has no water The Sun’s Features • The darker areas on the sun are sun spots and they are cooler climates of the Sun Solar winds occurs when the magnetic field of the sun extends Weathering and erosion • The moon has no weathering and erosion • The Earth has weathering and erosion causing caves , canyons, mountains, and other landforms • There is no weathering and erosion on the sun axis It takes the moon 27 days to rotate on its axis It takes earth 24 hours to rotate on its axis The sun rotates on its axis every 27 days orbit • It takes 27.322 days for the moon to orbit around the earth. In 365 days the earth can orbit the sun The sun does not orbit anything. Moon and tides • When the moon is right over earth it starts high tides. High tides and low tides are about 6 hours different. What causes seasons Earth spins on a axis. An example is when we tilt to the sun it is summer. Weather and Atmosphere • There is not any air or atmosphere on the moon. • There is a big atmosphere on the Earth causing weather • The sun is made of gas so it has an atmosphere and its weather is on the sunspots. by: Caleb Lamm and Josh Goings thanks for watching Kentucky wishes you a merry Christmas
