Go to the website http://my.hrw.com
Sign in using your username/password
Select Go to the Online Textbook.(The Americans)
Select desired Chapter from the pull-down menu directly under the title (The Americans)
Select desired Section from the adjacent pull-down menu
Press the red Go! Button
7. Use the mouse or arrow keys (or swipe if using an e-reader) to move u/.down the pages
8. Go to the next page by clicking next.
9. To finish, select Logout at the top right of the screen.
Taking Notes
1. Start by writing down the Chapter Title and Section Titles
2. Write down the Main Idea (located directly under the Section Title.
3. Identify all of the terms and names (write out or copy the terms and define). If you create notes
electronically (in MS Word or Notepad, etc.)) You can cut/paste directly into the text. This is
preferred because it easier to read and study and must focus on the note taking.
4. If you want to listen to the text, there is an Audio track located directly to the left of the Section
Title.
5. Additional material is located to the left of each page after the Title page of each section (notes,
activities, supporting documents, etc.)
For Reading Check Purposes:
May bring notes to class that are created by you for text.
Notes should include Chapter, Section and Subsection titles with key words defined.
Notes are highlights, not rewriting of the text
Online resources may be printed and highlighted beforehand.
