Teams should arrive (0745-0815) in order to drop Cadets and unit gear at the gym entrance. Parking of buses can be to the rear of the parking lot or in the front of the school in the bus parking lot. Please do not take spaces close to the gym entrance. 2. Uniforms: Navy Service Khaki. No taps on the bottom of shoes will be permitted for competing team members. 3. Teams must have rifle butt pads and tips if routine requires them to make contact with the drill deck. 4. All schools should assign a cadet to guard equipment remaining in the classroom or ensure no personal valuables are unprotected. Most military gear should be marked with unit information should it be left by accident. 5. WESTLAKE BOOSTER’s will provide concession services in the gym foyer. We are asking that you not eat inside the gym but utilize the tables provided in the foyer. Food and drinks will be on sale at the concession stand, including breakfast items and coffee. We are asking that you support our concessions. 6. Participating Cadets will remain in the full uniform of the day, Navy Service Khaki, throughout the meet, including knockout. 7. During the awards ceremony, only team commanders or a designated cadet will come forward to accept awards. 8. Year 2012-2013 Area 5 Score Sheets will be used for scoring and judging. 9. Drill area dimensions for Armed Platoon Basic Drill, Unarmed Platoon Basic Drill, and Exhibition Drills will be 85’ x 70.’ Drill area dimensions for Color Guard will be 70’ X 70.’ Ensure your drill teams practice their routines on drill decks measured to these dimensions prior to the meet. 10. Unit Personnel Inspection (UPI) uniform will be Navy Service Khaki with only NJROTC authorized ribbons, insignias, designations, and nametags. The only authorized aiguillette for wear during this inspection is the Leadership Academy silver cord. The auditorium stage dimensions for UPI will be sufficient. Please note that this area is less than the optimum for Area 5 standard of 75’ x 75’. A5M has waived the UPI deck dimensions for this meet. Prior to the inspection, the Head Judge will approach the CC and check and annotate the total number of cadets on the score sheet. The CC will initial directly under this number. All schools and UPI teams must ensure that the UPI Ready Area is quiet, to not disrupt the inspectors or platoon being inspected. UPI will be conducted in accordance with NJROTC Area 5 standards. Per the score sheet, each cadet will receive a grade in five separate areas. The knowledge requirements will be posed as three (3) questions to each cadet, which will be formulated from the Cadet Field Manual chapters that pertain to the general orders, uniform wear, drill, Navy ranks and rates, and other general areas to include a UPI cadet’s knowledge about his/her specific rank/rate or ribbons earned. In addition, cadets should know the seven members of the current chain of command (President, SECDEF, SECNAV, CNO, CNETC, CNSTC, and A5M). 12. For the “Knockout” competition, cadets will compete in the NAVY SERVICE UNIFORM to include COVER. Cadet entry fee is $2.00. Tickets will be on sale throughout the day.
