Board Game Project Objective: No matter what kind of book you read the characters still encounter difficult decisions and situations, which affect the development of the characters and the outcome of the story. Your task is to create a board game that displays the journey of at least 2 main characters from start to finish. Directions: The board game should be modeled after the board game life and candy land. You will pick two main characters from your novel and outline their journey in the board game. Your game should start with two separate paths, one path for character one, and one path for character two. Each square of the path should monitor the characters’ journey throughout the novel and have either a reward or consequence for the player. For example, in the short story “The Cold Equations” the character Marilyn gets caught as a stowaway aboard an EDS ship. The player of this character would have a consequence for getting caught; an example of a consequence would be losing a turn, paying a fine, or moving back a certain amount of spaces. The first player to complete the character’s journey is the winner. Each game should include the following: Money- to serve as a reward or consequence, “Life cards”- (renamed to suit your game) which gives the player money when he or she lands on the space, color coordinated cards, which tell the player of their rewards and consequences, game pieces, one dice block, a book of rules to inform the players how to play your game, a fully formed four paragraph summary explaining what your book was about and what role these two characters play (this summary should be grammatically correct, typed, double spaced, and formally written) Requirements: Board game follows the journey of at least two characters Includes a list of rules (must be typed- double spaced) Cards that correspond with the spaces on the board, and represent the journey of the characters Game pieces: o Money o One dice block o “Life Cards” o Reward and Consequence cards o Player game pieces Board Decorated appropriately Four paragraph summary One month of reading logs The name of the book and the author are clearly displayed on your board game Grading Rubric ______/20- Four paragraph summary: a fully formed four paragraph summary explaining what your book was about and what role these two characters play (this summary should be grammatically correct, typed, double spaced, and formally written). ______/22- A list of game rules, which clearly states the objective of the game. ______/28- All of the board game requirements were met. ______/10- Reading logs are completed. ______/20- Board game was creatively developed and decorated.
