Living “Joyful” Lives • J: Jettison unhealthy aspects from your past. • Philippians 3:13-14 page 1829 says, “Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Living “Joyful” Lives • O: Omit all worries about your future. • Philippians 4:6-7 on page 1830 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Living “Joyful” Lives • Y: Yield yourself to God's purpose. • Philippians 1:21, “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain” Living “Joyful” Lives • F: Focus on what’s good. • Philippians 4:8, Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things. Living “Joyful” Lives • U: Use your life to help others. • Philippians 4:1, Therefore, my brothers, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, that is how you should stand firm in the Lord, dear friends! Living “Joyful” Lives • L: Learn to be content. • Philippians 4:11, “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances” Taking It Home 1. Make the choice to live a spiritually focused, hope driven, Christ centered life, and enjoy joyful living now and for eternity. Taking It Home 2. We need to align our choices under the decision that we made to follow Jesus as Lord and leader of our lives. Taking It Home 3.
