On August 15, 2015, Mrs R was driving her 6 year old daughter, 3 year old son, sister and sister’s boyfriend.
There was a traffic accident. The sister’s boyfriend was killed on impact. Her daughter suffered a broken back
and is not expected to ever walk again. Mrs R suffered a severe shoulder injury and several broken ribs. Her
son suffered from an open head injury. Her sister had head injuries and a broken wrist. Her daughter is
currently in a rehabilitation facility recovering and learning how to live in a wheelchair. The rest of the family
have been treated and released. Mr R works as a mechanic and Mrs R does not work. She spends her days
with her daughter. The family is in financial ruin trying to figure out how to care for their daughter, especially
after she is released from the rehab facility. They must find a way to purchase a wheelchair accessible vehicle
so they can transport their daughter and make their residence wheelchair accessible. The family’s home was
burglarized in May 2015 and none of the items have been recovered yet. Due to unexpected costs, not
covered by insurance, the family is struggling financially. Mrs R and her daughter are having psychological
issues due to post traumatic stress syndrome over watching the sister’s boyfriend die in front of them. Any

shot in the leg a couple years ago and now has difficulty walking. Ms J has 2 jobs working overnights. She has
no car and often has to walk hours to work through dangerous neighborhoods on her bad leg. Ms J is in
business school and has dreams of opening her own clothing store. She has been working hard to pay off her
bills, but she is struggling to pay rent and utilities each month. Ms J lost her brother to violent crime this year
and this has been a major loss for her. She is a very resilient and hard-working mother. She always puts her
children’s needs above her own. She rarely gets any sleep and goes without adequate clothes or shoes so her
children can have the things they need. Ms J could use any assistance with clothing and utility bills. This family
has very little and will be very grateful for any assistance.

and utility bills. She is unable to work due to mental illness and health complications during her pregnancy.
The father of her child has recently left her to parent on her own. Ms H is a dedicated and loving mother. She
always puts the needs of her children above her own. She is enrolled in parenting classes to learn even more
about positive parenting. Ms H received a disconnect notice on her electric bill and is worried they will be
homeless again. She and her children could use any support and they will appreciate anything they receive.
