Climate and Vegetation
Seasons
Earth’s tilt and the 4 seasons
Weather
Leeward
Windward
Convectional Typical of
hot climates, convection
occurs after morning
sunshine heats warm
moist air. Clouds form in
the afternoon and rain
falls.
Orographic Associated with
mountain areas, orographic
storms drop more rain on the
windward side of a mountain
and create a rain shadow on
the leeward side.
Frontal Mid-latitude
frontal storms feature
cold dense air masses
that push lighter warm
air masses upward,
Causing precipitation to
form.

Sub Arctic
The Siberian Taiga is the largest forest
on earth, and makes up 27% of the
World's total forested land. Many species
found here are also found in Ireland,
especially the two most common
species, silver birch and Scots pine.

The Altai Mountains lie on the borders of
Siberia, Tibet and Mongolia. The people
living in this region subsist almost
entirely from their sheep for their food,
clothing and even alcohol! Low rainfall
and bitterly cold winters make this a
harsh environment for people and
wildlife.
