and you wish to obtain credit for this course, you must come and see me.
Beartracks will allow you to register in this course, even if you do not have the
required prerequisites.
Course Objectives:
 Infinite Sequences and Series: Chapter 10
 Polar Coordinates: Chapter 11, Sections 1-5
 Vectors and Geometry of Space: Chapter 12
 Vector-Valued Functions & Motion in Space: Chapter 13, Sections 1-5
 Partial Derivatives: Chapter 14, Sections 1-8
Grading:
Your overall mark will be broken down as follows:
%20 Weekly Assignments – Due at 3pm on each Friday
%30 Midterm Exam – In-class on Monday, May 30
%50 Final Exam – Thursday, June 16
Assignments: There will be no late assignments. Once the marker has
removed the assignments from the assignment box (3rd floor of CAB), no
assignments will be accepted. To accommodate for unexpected circumstances
that might prevent you from handing in an assignment, the best 4 out of 5
assignments will be used to calculate the assignment portion of your grade.
Exams: There will be no makeup midterm. If you provide a valid written excuse
(see Section 23.5.6(1) of the Calendar), the weight of your midterm will be
transferred to your final grade (i.e. %80 Final). There are no textbooks, formula
sheets or calculators allowed in any of the exams.
Final Grades: To assign the final grades, I calculate your final overall mark
according to the scheme above and then I identify divisions between groups of
students. These groups are then assigned a letter grade in such a way that the
average for the term is consistent with the averages from previous years.
Academic Honesty: The University of Alberta is committed to the highest
standards of academic integrity and honesty. Students are expected to be
familiar with these standards regarding academic honesty and to uphold the
policies of the University in this respect. Students are particularly urged to
familiarize themselves with the provisions of the Code of Student Behaviour
(online at www.uofaweb.ualberta.ca/secretariat/studentappeals.cfm) and avoid
any behaviour which could potentially result in suspicions of cheating, plagiarism,
misrepresentation of facts and/or participation in an offence. Academic
dishonesty is a serious offence and can result in suspension or expulsion from
the University.
Course Outlines: Policy about course outlines can be found in §23.4(2) of the
University Calendar.
