The Waste 2 Resource Education Program is a free environmental education program designed
specifically for Sunshine Coast schools. Take advantage of our in-class presentations or join the
STARS Program to help your school improve recycling and reduce volumes of waste going to landfill.
In-class presentations
Presentations range from 45mins to 1hour,
depending on the year level, topic and group
size.
Ready Steady Recycle: Save the planet and
valuable recyclable resources. Learn the rules for
recycling and become a better recycler.
Conserve nature's finite resources and close the
loop on a material’s life cycle. A virtual tour of the
local Material Recovery Facility will reveal where
recyclables go, how they are sorted and what
they are turned into.
Nature’s Recyclers - Composting or Worm
Farming: Enlist the hard work of nature's
recyclers to minimise the organic waste materials
that end up buried in landfill. Discover how to set
up a compost bin and/or a worm farm. Explore
relationships between Compost Critters (Fungi,
Bacteria and invertebrates). Learn how to
maintain the systems and how to apply their
wonderful organic products in the garden. This is
practical waste minimisation and resource
management for your school.
Limited number of compost bins and worm farms per school.
Presentation delivered as separate or combined session.
Litter Litter Everywhere: Is littering a problem at
your school? Are you a wedger? Investigate the
impact of litter on our world. Explore the
behaviours behind littering and learn how to use
a litter audit to analyse where it comes from.
Generate creative solutions to change littering
behaviours and discover government 'littering
and illegal dumping' regulations.
Smart Shopping: Get out your magnifying
glasses and examine the world of packaging to
discover the secrets to packing nude food for
your lunchbox. Learn how to use the 3R's and
the Waste Hierarchy to become a smart shopper
and discuss the environmental and economic
decisions companies face when designing and
producing packaging.
Enjoy Food ... Not Waste!: What's in your
lunchbox? Take a look at what's in the bin after
lunch; explore the issues of food waste, at
school, at home and around the world. Now take
action to create a lunchbox that you can enjoy
and not waste!
STARS Program

that engage students to implement more
sustainable waste practices and change the
school’s culture to become more resourceful.

‘best practice’. Partner with Council and have
your school become a leader in sustainability
for the Coast community.
The Waste 2 Resource Program is facilitated
through EnviroCom Australia, a contractor of the
