When you hear the term “The American Dream,” what do you think about? In

that you define the American Dream different than your parents? Explain.
Write for the FULL 6 minutes.
Today you will…COPY THESE INSTRUCTIONS INTO YOUR NOTEBOOK.
1.
Review Essay questions and read the three articles:
a. Read and review response questions and criteria for today’s writing.
b. “A Rude Awakening: The Endangered American Dream”
c. “Harder for Americans to Rise From Lower Rungs”
d. “Can the Working Class Be Saved?”
While you read record three passages you would want to use to support each question needed to be
addressed in your essay. I should see these recorded or atleast noted on your paper, before you
begin your essay writing.
2. Using the response questions as your framework, compose an essay where you respond to questions
1-3 in the body of your essay. Be sure to include an introduction and conclusion paragraph.
YOU MUST CITE ATLEAST ONE PASSAGE FROM AN ARTICLE TO SUPPORT YOUR RESPONSE TO EACH
OF THE QUESTIONS LISTED. THIS MEANS, IN TOTAL, EVERYONE SHOULD CITE 3 PASSAGES FROM
THE TEXT IN THEIR WRITING.
For each passage you cite, include the last name of the author and p.#.
