POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The instructor will be responsible for teaching and providing leadership in a variety of Digital Forensics and Information Security
classes in the Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department. In addition to teaching, this position will require: (1) developing
and modifying curricula; (2) advising students in related academic programs; (3) participating in department/division and advisory
board activities; (4) managing the forensics lab and clean room, including creating hard drive images and lab setup for classes;
(5) managing and mentoring interns; (6) developing industry contacts for job placement, internship opportunities, and advisory
board members; (7) participating in training as necessary; (8) leading in program marketing opportunities; and (9) performing
related professional responsibilities. The teaching assignment may include early morning or late afternoon/evening classes. The
assignment will also include teaching online or hybrid classes. This is a tenure-track position that reports to the Dean of the
Natural Sciences and Mathematics Division.
The Division/Department is especially interested in recruiting applicants with diverse backgrounds to teach our increasingly
diverse student population.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:




Bachelor’s degree in Information Security/Digital Forensics or a related field AND two years of industry experience; OR five
years of industry experience AND industry certifications equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
Demonstrated successful teaching experience in Information Security/Digital Forensics at the undergraduate level equivalent
to at least one academic year.
Demonstrated online or hybrid teaching experience.
Excellent speaking, listening, writing, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:








Evidence of excellence in teaching and focus on student learning.
Additional teaching experience at a community college.
Experience with multiple approaches to teaching and learning and incorporating a variety of technologies into the classroom
(e.g. Blackboard, image and text scanning, video/audio capture software, basic HTML, conferencing software, etc.).
Experience in curriculum development.
Experience working with various law enforcement and other related governmental agencies.
Ability to foster a climate of multicultural understanding and appreciation.
Ability to work effectively with students and staff representing diverse backgrounds, life experiences and abilities.
Ability to adapt to a variety of teaching situations, including a wide range of student preparedness.
ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
Edmonds Community College, founded in 1967, is a public, two-year, coeducational state community college which each year
welcomes some 11,500 academic and vocational students, including approximately 1,500 students who come here from as many
as 79 different countries. The college is located in the center of the growing south Snohomish County communities of Edmonds,
Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Brier, Mill Creek and Woodway. Situated in Washington State’s Puget Sound region, the College

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically performed in a classroom and office and requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. The
ability to speak clearly and fully comprehend written and spoken English is essential. Instructors are required to use a computer in
the work environment.
COMPENSATION:
The salary will be based on the current faculty salary schedule; placement is based on education and related experience. The
current range is $46,083 to $55,393 annually for a 172-day appointment. The college provides an excellent benefits package
which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and a retirement plan.
