(Sweat-pants, shorts, t-shirts with sleeves, sweatshirts etc.) Or please check handbook on page 18 … All students must wear gym shoes … no black soled shoes, boots, sandals etc. Absolutely NO Jewelry! (Page 18 Letter k of Handbook) No gum, candy or food of any kind in locker rooms or playing areas. All students must participate … You may not like the activity we are participating in, but this is a participation class. Try to give your best effort. Girls you are offered a lock for your gym locker. If you lose your lock for any reason … school will charge students $6.00. Be respectful of others … this includes everyone. There will be no making fun of other students. Physical Education class should be an enjoyable experience not a stressful experience. Respect and take care of equipment. You will be charged for anything broken due to your actions. All students are to wait in the locker room until the entire class is ready to go to the gym as a class. A parental/guardian note is required if you are unable to participate in the class activities. A doctor’s note is required if you miss 3 or more days due to the same illness or injury. Grading Procedures In most units students will earn grades that will be used from a unit activity score. The score will be based from 10-20 points for each unit. If a student is always on task and active, including dressing for class … they would get full credit each day. Students will lose points from not being on task or active, being a distraction, sitting out any activity from the teacher. A student will earn 0 points for the day if they are sent to the office for insubordination … Other Grading Items General daily grades includes: 1-Dress for class 2-Follows directions and does what is expected. 3-Takes off jewelry for class So that equals to 3 points per day … If a student misses several days they many need to complete written work to get their daily points. Student during the semester will take written tests over certain topics covered. Students will have homework assignments such as getting signatures for parents going through the rules and grading procedures, as well as taking home fitness grams to have signed. Students will be given scores in Fitness Center based on their participation and for reaching certain criteria for the day. Students will be scored at least 3-4 times per semester with Mile run, shuttle run, flexibility, sit ups, and pull ups or flex hang to see if they are reaching goals and able to maintain or improve on their personal fitness levels. A student with 6 No Dresses during a 9 week grading period will fail the class for that grading period. Any student unable to participate due to injury or other complications will have to complete written work to receive credit for grades. If a student is injured for a long period of class time … they are on grounds for possibly retaking the course.
