JOB PROFILE JOB TITLE JOB GRADE DEPARTMENT JOB FAMILY FUNCTION OF DEPARTMENT Security Desk Officer (Stabilisation Unit) 5 CHASE Operations Team, London, UK Security/Operations Crown Agents is contracted by the Department for International Development (DFID) and the Stabilisation Unit (SU) to provide an operational team delivering humanitarian and stabilisation services worldwide. ORGANISATION CHART Attached/Available on request MAIN JOB PURPOSE The primary objective is to support the Operational Security Advisors (OSAs) to provide security risk assurance for Stabilisation Unit deployments into hostile and semi-hostile environments. This London-based post will carry out information gathering, coordination, continuity and liaison tasks, increasing the capacity of the Stabilisation Unit (SU) to provide appropriate risk assessment and security to deployed staff, consultants, contractors and Deployable Civilian Experts (DCEs) and other SU activities. MAIN The post-holder will: RESPONSIBILITIES OF Draft Safety and Security Instructions (SSIs) for high-risk deployments JOB for finalisation by an OSA and approval by risk owners. Ensure that the Travel Risk Assessment (TRA) Process is carried out on time for each deployment. Arrange and record security briefings and debriefings as required by OSAs. Maintain and distribute the Fragile and Conflict Affected States (FCAS) risk register. Monitor threat reporting from open and restricted sources. Highlight to OSAs any relevant or noteworthy developments or potential security issues. Liaise as appropriate with external security stakeholders, e.g. the FCO Estates and Security Directorate (ESD), UN, EU and FCO overseas security officials over security matters affecting the SU. Other tasks as directed by OSAs. FINANCIAL AUTHORITY REPORTING As per the Group Policy and Delegation Rules The adviser will report to the Senior Operational Security Advisor (SU). Proven ability to carry out efficient administration with a high degree of accuracy and reliability. Good inter-personal skills including ability to communicate complex procedures and situations to varied stakeholders/clients Strong briefing skills. Ability to produce accurate, well-written and well-presented documents. Ability to work to tight deadlines, to cope with multiple simultaneous tasks involving multiple stakeholders, and to keep calm under pressure. Ability to problem-solve and to take initiative, while making good judgements as to when to ask for management guidance or approval. Outstanding organisational skills in terms of planning, managing information, controlling timelines and meeting deadlines Proven ability to deal with a varied, demanding, often conflicting and rapidly changing workload. Experience of security-related work or unstable security environments would be an advantage. Level The post-holder must be willing to deploy to hostile environments, sometimes at short notice.
