They have been working hard so far and are displaying great knowledge on the topic. 7th Grade- Students have been learning about European exploration in the Americas. They are learning about the foundations of America. 8th Grade- Students have been analyzing the causes of the Civil War and understanding how not to repeat these mistakes. Important Announcements Check your student’s planner to make sure that each student is properly writing their homework. Look at Powerschool to ensure your student is doing great work! Religion (Weekly Quizzes every Friday) 6th- Students are learning about Jacob this week and understanding how the nation of Israel began. 7th-Students are learning about the sacraments of initiation and how this relates to Confirmation. 8th-Students are learning about the unifying features of the Church. They are understanding the factors that tie us together. Page 1 of 3 Ms. Craig Math 6th, 7th, 8th: 6th - The sixth grade class has begun their unit on performing operations with decimals. Please be sure to check your student’s assignment notebook and/or my website for daily homework. They will have a quiz early next week on dividing whole numbers, adding decimals, and subtracting decimals. 7th - Seventh grade finished their unit on Rational Numbers last Thursday. Be sure to check Powerschool to see how this test has affected your student’s grade in math. This week we began our unit on Equations and Expressions. Students will have a homework quiz tomorrow that is based on their homework assignments from this week. 8th - Eighth grade students have begun to learn about proportional relationships and how they relate to graphs. They have been successful in determining whether a table of values has a proportional relationship and will next begin looking at how this relates to a graph and the equation of a line. Ms. Fournier Language Arts 6th, 7th, and 8th: 6th ELA Students have their final test for the narrative building block unit on Thursday and Friday of this week. Please be sure students are studying from their study guide. Students brought home the Accelerated Reader progress report last week. Ms. Krejcik Science 6th, 7th, 8th: 6th After learning about cells and its organelles and functions, the 6th grade scientists are exploring how sense receptors are an extension of our body systems. We will discuss cell specialization and how cells get their jobs. Later this week, students will participate in an online cell game in preparation for a test on Friday. 7th After learning about how energy and matter flow in an ecosystem, the 7th grade scientists are exploring how matter and energy gets recycled. We will discuss test taking strategies this week as they prepare for a big test on Friday on all that they have been learning about ecosystems. 8th After learning about DNA, genes and chromosomes, the 8th grade scientists are deepening their knowledge by learning about mitosis - how cells duplicate. With this exploration, we have been discuss chromosome abnormalities in addition to gene mutations. All students have been busy working on an assigned chromosome syndrome and researching and organizing their notes. Individuals and partnerships will present their chromosome abnormality in a project of their choice. Contact any of the teachers by sending an email or calling the school.
