PART 1 - Multiple choice cloze
• There is a text with 15 numbered gaps and four choices
(A, B, C and D) for each. You must choose the best
answer to fill each gap. Example:

an example at the beginning (0). Mark your answers on

PART 3 - Word transformation
• There are 10 sentences with a gap to be filled
using a given word that cannot be changed.
Example:
Part 3
• For Questions 31-4O, complete the second
sentence so that it has a similar meaning to the
first sentence, using the order given. Do not
change the word given. You must use between
two and five words, including the word given.
Here is an example (O).

PART 4 - Error correction
• A text is provided with 10 errors. Some lines
contain an extra, unnecessary word. You have to
identify it. Note that in this book space is
provided at the side of the lines for your
answers. In the exam, you must use your
answer sheet. Example:

• For Questions 41-55, read the text below and
look carefully at each line. Some of the lines are
correct, and some have a word which should not
be there.

• If a line is correct, put a tick (v) by the
number on the separate answer sheet.
If a line has a word which should not be
there, write the word on the separate
answer sheet. There are two examples at
