Grading Procedures: I will enter grades into powerschool each week. I will have a grade for each student in the following categories: Classwork, Homework, Tests. Each of these will be outlined to the students in the first few days of class.
Tests & Projects (40%): All tests and most quizzes are announced. Projects are intended to help students make a connection between Algebra and real world applications. The due date for each project will be given during class. Late projects will not be accepted unless absent on due date. If absent for a preannounced test, quiz, or project due date, the test must be taken the next day during the student’s free time (i.e. before or after school on the day they return or during lunch). Special exceptions may be given based on extenuating circumstances.
Class Work (40%) and Homework (20%): Every student will be expected to actively participate in each lesson. Class work consists of warm-ups, lesson notes, guided practice work, and instructional activities. Class work is graded on accuracy and completion. Quizzes will be categorized as Classwork, with a title stating that the particular assignment is a quiz on the parent portal. Homework Assignments are given almost every day and will be graded on effort, completion, and accuracy. Students are expected to show all work for each problem on every assignment. I do not accept late homework or classwork unless a student was absent.

Students who are absent the day before a test or quiz will take the assessment with the class as scheduled. I will take make-up work (classwork and homework) up to 10 days after the student returns from being absent. The time frame may be altered based upon the student’s circumstances.
All unfinished or uncompleted make-up work or if a test is not taken the student will receive a grade of 0.
