Job Description: Trusts and foundations fundraising senior executive

Location: Tower Hill, London with flexibility to travel to services and meeting locations as required

To transform Refuge’s current programme of trust and foundation fundraising, by implementing the new trust and foundations fundraising strategy to deliver immediate and long-term income growth for Refuge.

Main duties:

Major donor fundraising

1 Work collaboratively within the high value fundraising team to implement Refuge’s high value fundraising strategy and meet ambitious fundraising objectives and income targets.

2 Implement the trust and foundations strategy to manage Refuge’s current portfolio of trust and foundations and to grow the portfolio by; conducting research, producing outstanding grant applications and providing excellent stewardship for new and existing contacts.

3 Use a broad range of research tools and resources to conduct extensive prospect research to generate unrestricted and restricted income for Refuge.

4 Draft trust and foundation profiles and make prospect recommendations to the high value fundraising senior manager, ensuring a full pipeline of opportunities is always in place.

5 Work collaboratively across the high value team - mapping networks and maximising opportunities to grow income from across all high value audiences.

6 Respond to funding opportunities by working collaboratively with colleagues from across the organisation to develop bespoke propositions to connect donors to the women and children who use Refuge services.

7 Support the planning and management of high value fundraising events.

8 Maintain high standards of donor care through accurate and timely donation and thanking processing.

9 Maintain accurate and up to date donor records on The Raisers Edge CRM database and on electronic and paper files as appropriate.

10 Manage a dynamic workload and respond to competing priorities.

11 Ensure efficient use of resources at all times to maximise net income.

12 Keep up to date with best practice in fundraising and comply with relevant legislation.

13 Attend evening and weekend events to represent Refuge, as required.

14 Attend all meetings or training as requested by the senior manager, high value fundraising. Attend regular supervision sessions and participate in Refuge’s performance management processes.

15 Develop an in depth knowledge of domestic violence and understanding of Refuge’s work, philosophy and mission.

2.1 Significant proven experience of securing five-figure grants (unrestricted and restricted funding) from trust and foundations in a charity setting.

2.2 Proven experience of prospect research to establish and maintain a strong trust and foundation strong pipeline.
