Management Consultants
When a company has a serious problem, but
doesn’t have the expertise to solve it, a
management consultant is often brought in to
provide expert advice. Management
consultants provide advice on everything,
including financial problems, human resources
issues, and major equipment purchases. They
are hired on a contract basis, with most
contracts lasting for a period of at least 6
months. Consultants often work on teams that
include managers from the client company and
two or three other management consultants.










Bachelor’s degrees usually take 4 years to complete. However, to
advance to more senior positions, you generally need a graduate
degree.
A Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) is the most
common graduate degree held by consultants, and it is often required
for advancement within consulting companies. Full-time MBA programs
usually take 1 to 2 years to complete. Programs that provide instruction
specifically in management consulting are available, and may be
particularly helpful.
