Melrose Drama Presents Les Misérables Welcome to Melrose High School’s Production of ‘Les Miserables’! As a member of this cast, Melrose Drama requires that all cast members commit to the following policies. Please review these policies and return the signature sheet to Mr. Schuler BY CALLBACKS (December 18th). Please keep this page for your reference. If there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mr. Schuler (aschuler@melroseschools.com). Outline of Commitment/ Cast Contract: -Rehearsals will be held 3-4 time a week beginning in January and will most likely be m/w/f We will have a set calendar and says/times once we see where the majority of cast conflicts are. We may also add some evening rehearsals to accommodate student schedules. -A parent meeting will be held on in January - Tech week will be April 24th-28th (plus performances). These are MANDATORY rehearsals for ALL involved. -Performances will be April 29th and 30th at 7p and April 30th and May 1st at 1p CONFLICTS: All students must be available to attend at least two rehearsals a week. Those in leading roles should expect to be called to all three rehearsals per week. Not all students will be called to every rehearsal. A full production calendar is enclosed and a detailed rehearsal calendar will be given as soon as all conflicts have been submitted. All conflicts must be known by the start of rehearsals. All students will only be allowed to add one more conflict to their calendar once we’ve gone into rehearsals. Attendance will be taken daily: If more than two rehearsals are missed and are not on your conflict sheet, your place in the production will be put in jeopardy. Punctuality is critical to ensure our performers success. If constant tardiness becomes an issue, your place in the production could be put in jeopardy. If you cannot regularly attend rehearsals, you may not be cast. Tech week is mandatory and any conflicts during that week must be known before casting. BEHAVIOR: All cast members commit to the rules and regulations set forth by the Melrose Public School System and will behave in a manner according to school rules. Students are expected to be punctual and stay focused in rehearsal. Students are also expected to review lines/ blocking/ dances/ music/ etc. at home and be memorized by the set-forth “off-book” date(s). If tardiness, knowing your materials, or focus become an issue your role in the production may be in jeopardy and an understudy may be assigned to your role or a double cast may take over the role. Schoolwork will always remain the student’s top priority and if grades become an issue you may be asked to leave the production. Rehearsals and production week are not an excuse for not doing homework/assignments. ADS AND SHOUTS/ PROGRAM BOOK There will not be an activity fee to participate in this production, however students are asked to sell “ads” and “shouts” for our program book. This is a huge source of fundraising for Melrose Drama and allows us to continue to produce high-quality theatre to the Melrose community. COMMITMENT: We will costume much of the show however, you may be asked to supply all or a part of your costume. Costumes should always be hung up after use and any borrowed pieces must be returned at the end of production. You also agree to treat any costumes/ props/ sets/ sound equipment with respect and care. If any costumes/ props/ sets/ sound equipment are damaged while under your care you may be asked to replace them. We understand emergent situations may arise and you may be forced to leave the production. However, we ask that once you’ve committed to this production that you honor that commitment and see it through to the end. Cast members (and their parents/guardians) consent to use of names and/or images for publicity purposes, including newspapers, photographs, website, videos, etc. If this presents a concern, please contact Mr. Schuler. All students agree to try their hardest, to work toward an excellent production, and to have fun!! PARENT COMMITMENT: There are many opportunities for parents to help, from tickets to costumes, from painting to the program book. More details of committees, opportunities etc. will be provided at the parent meeting Iin January Students and at least one parent/guardian commit to attending and assisting with strike, which will be immediately following the final performance on May 1st.. Your commitment to the above will make it possible for Melrose Drama to produce a high quality, entertaining musical for our audience and also ensures that our students have a positive experience that enhances their understanding of the theatre. While we do not require that each cast member sell a specific number of tickets, we do hope that you will take pride in this production and encourage friends & family to be part of the audience.
