Reading -- This week our focus will be on how scenes/
chapters in a story or play build on each other and how
they are dependent on each other.
Here are some questions to ask when you are reading
with your child.
• Why did the chapter/scene you just read have to come
after the previous chapter/scene?
• If the scene/chapter you just read was left out of the
story, would the rest of the story make sense?
• What did the author include in the previous
scene/chapter that you needed to understand the
scene/chapter you just read?

we have learned so far this year, like – capitalization,
complete sentences, compound and complex
sentences, common and proper nouns, verb tenses,
possessives, contractions, and subject verb agreement.
Ask your child to identify the words they use when they
are talking to you as nouns, verbs, or adjectives. This is a
basic skill many of them still have not mastered.
