What are his fears on that Rollercoaster day? (SEAL) Summer Term Draw a picture of a Greek amphitheatre and mark out the areas with different colours and supply a key. E) 1. Decorate the mask you have started in class and make it complete to wear, and as interesting as possible. F) 2. Watch Matilda the film, or read the book, as this is our stimulus for this section of our SEAL unit. Write a summary of the things that happened. Year 8 2 weeks from issue to completion Autumn Term A) Practise a full tableau at home. Show it to a family member and see if they can tell immediately what the action is that you have arrested mid motion. 2ND Half Autumn Term B) Do a poster of your version of Ernie's Incredible Illucination during the most memorable moment in your piece. Either label it, have speech bubbles, or add a caption beneath which describes what was going on at the height of the "Illucination". 1ST Half Spring Term C) Study a Soap Opera of your choice. Make a table up of 6 stock characters, EG Gossip, Hardman Loser,Flirt,Female, Schemer, Clown. Decide who fits into these categories in your Soap. Name the characters and describe what makes them fit into these sub-headings. Give an example of something they do or say. 2Nd Half of Spring Term D) Prepare a soliloquy to be spoken aloud by your character. Practise it at home in front of family members. Then perform in front of class for evaluation. 1st Half of Summer Term E) Practise a speech that your character says in your improvisation, but stage it first "In-theround" and then "Proscenium Arch". Perform it in front of Family members and ask for feedback about which staging format was most effective. Use this knowledge in the classroom when you present your improvisation. 2ND Half of Summer Term F) Do a set design for either "Planet Station Delta" or "Ghosts on the Moor", or for your improvised ghost story. Remember to set it "In-the- round" , or "Proscenium Arch" Year 9 2 weeks from issue to completion 1ST Half of Autumn Term A) Practise the first three techniques of stage fighting at home in front of the mirror. (No contact). Get your actions smooth and quick. 2ND Half of Autumn Term B) Write a dialogue that you can perform with a partner in a conflict situation. Practise your lines so that you can do them without script. Perform with appropriate stage fighting moves for evaluation within the classroom later. 1ST Half of Spring Term C) Practise the version of "Macbeth" that you have been in class, or the speech from your improvisation so that you can perform it without a script 2ND Half of Spring Term D) Do a Stage fighting Manual which will take beginners through to the finest understanding of techniques. Use your "Macbeth" knowledge within your guide. Use labelled diagrams, photographs and passages of script to put in blocking via choreographed movement. 1st Half of Summer Term E) 1. Draw a picture of the Elizabethan theatre, "The Wooden 'O' " F) 2. Decide on what lighting and sound effects you require for your rendition of your piece. Do an effects script for your technicians to follow. G) Practise the lines you have been given, either from "The Crucible", "To Kill a Mocking Bird" or from "Gone Fishing", and learn them well enough that you do not need script in performance.
