Introduction
Selecting an efficient platform for a web-based tutorial depends directly on the topic of the training, cost, scalability,
hardware/software requirements, instructional tools, accessibility, and user friendliness. The selected instructional topic for platform
evaluation is the Ajax Preventative Maintenance Training since this training includes several visual and kinesthetic elements, which
increases the options for web-based presentation of concepts. The Instructional Agenda, outlining the two-hour Ajax Preventative
Maintenance Training, is in Appendix A. In addition, this training is easily transferable to web-based tutorial though integrating
various multimedia elements. Although the internet has several available platforms to house web-based trainings, the platforms of
investigation for the Ajax Preventative Maintenance Training are PowToon, Prezi, SuccessFactors, and Weebly.

free edition for my
professional portfolio for
the University of Phoenix
and several team and
individual projects, and
have used Weebly Pro
for business and
professional sites. The
user friendliness has
been amazing and
seems to work with
almost any browser. The
team and individual
projects that I have used
Weebly with I have
received 5/5 and 10/10
from the facilitators I
have sent them to. My

Platform Selection and Rationale
The best choice for platform selection for the Ajax Preventative Maintenance Training is Weebly. First, the number of
participants in the training is small enough to utilize a less expensive, or possibly free online tutorial. Next, Weebly is an affordable
with basic memberships for free and advanced memberships starting at $6.00 monthly programs. In addition, Weebly offers several
instructional tools for progress monitoring and creating a collaborative online learning environment including: polls, surveys, forums,

reader feedback, social icons, doc files, YouTube videos, podcasts, and contact forms. Lastly, Weebly offers technical support,
simple navigation, and clear directions for editing tools.
All of the investigated platforms have high accessibility and compatible hardware/software requirements. In addition, the
platforms are easy to navigate, create, and present web-based tutorials because of the technical support offerings. The team did not
select PowToon or Prezi because of increased costs because Weebly offers more editing and embedding options for less expense.
The teams second choice platform was SuccessFactors. However, this platform is more suitable for larger participant groups, is more
expensive, and requires experienced designers.
Conclusion
Web-based instructional designers must use their knowledge of various platforms because training necessities vary. While
many online platforms successfully house tutorials, PowToon, Prezi, SuccessFactors, and Weebly are four platforms offering several
strengths. Overall, the Ajax Preventative Maintenance Training needs an affordable, easy to use, and progress monitoring platform
such as Weebly. Weebly’s low cost, scalability, availability of instructional tools, hardware/software requirements, accessibility, and
user friendliness make the platform a perfect choice for the Ajax Preventative Maintenance Training.
