How does the ACC identify
important state legislation?
• Legislative Software:
– StateNet, processes search terms and sends bills, hearing dates
and summaries as they become available.
• Key Allies:
– We maintain an open dialogue with State medical societies, AHA
affiliates and others with similar state advocacy interests.
• BOG and Chapter Executives:
– Sometimes you (or your contract lobbyists) will be contacted by
state legislators or others for your opinion on legislation.
Working with Chapters, their lobbyists and allies
such as state medical associations are excellent
resources for identifying legislation and for
providing insight about why a bill is introduced
and its prospects for passing.
