Single Semester Study Abroad: Guidance for Applicants 2015/16
Please note that Single Semester Study Abroad is only available at our London Campus and only in the
Autumn (Fall) semester which runs from September to December.
Application Process
Please complete the application form that is available online, using the guidance below:
http://www.mdx.ac.uk/Assets/Mdx_App_Form_Oct%202012.pdf . Please note that we can ONLY accept
applications sent to us by email to studyabroad@mdx.ac.uk.
You will also need to complete an online module choices form: http://goo.gl/forms/LO5HlxRiWq . The modules
available to you are listed at the end of this document. Your module choices must add up to 60 credits. Please
also provide us with a few of your second choice modules, as there may be timetable clashes that prevent you
from taking all of your first choices.
When your application has been processed, you will receive confirmation from Middlesex and we will provide
you with your Middlesex University Student Identification (MDX ID) number. At the same time, your Visa
requirements will be assessed.
The Application Form
We want to make the application process as easy as possible, so we have put together a guide for you
below. Scan and save your completed application form and accompanying documents as one complete
PDF. Save the file name as your name and date of birth (eg. John_Smith_21May1978.pdf) and send to
studyabroad@mdx.ac.uk .
Notes on completing the Application Form
Please read the following notes carefully when completing the form. Complete all sections of the
application form unless otherwise directed in the notes below:
Personal Details: Ensure you write your name exactly as it appears on your passport.
Course(s) Applied For: Under ‘Programme Title’ Insert ‘Single Semester Study Abroad’.
Highest Qualification: Leave this section blank.
English Language Qualifications: You must complete this section and provide evidence that you
meet the English language requirements of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent (please note that TOEFL is no
longer accepted). We do offer Pre-sessional English courses to students that need to improve their
English level to study with us (www.mdx.ac.uk/presessional).
GMAT; Employment and Work Experience: Leave this section blank.
Personal Statement:
• Write here the name of your university, the name of the degree programme you are following there
and your current year of study (e.g. University of Cordoba, BA Translation, 2nd year).
 If you are applying for Art and Design or Film and Television modules please include a link to your
portfolio/show reel here.
References: Leave this section blank. You don’t need to provide a reference.

Accompanying Documents Checklist
You must provide your:
- most recent academic transcripts (translated into English)
- evidence of a Middlesex approved English language qualification (eg IELTS)
- a copy of your passport photo page
Portfolio / show reel
If you are applying for Art and Design or Film and Television modules please include a link to your
portfolio/show reel.
Visas
Unless you are an EU or EEA national, you will probably need a Visa to study in the UK. For one
semester study, you should be able to come using the ‘Short Term Student Visa’ route.
Accommodation
Our accommodation office will assist you to find accommodation. We will try our best to allocate you a
space in our halls of residence. Please try to apply before the 1st August 2015 to maximize your chances

Our Calendar
The orientation programme for International students begins on the 23rd September 2015. The
Undergraduate Induction begins on the 28th September 2015.

Choosing your Modules
During one term you are required to register for modules which total 60 credits (eg 4 x 15 cr
modules, 2 x 30 cr modules,1 x 60cr module or 1 x 30cr and 2 x 15cr.) Choose from the list below.
