WEEKLY SCHEDULE
Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
July 22, 2012
Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will raise up a
righteous shoot to David.
— Jeremiah 23:5a
THE DAYS ARE COMING
Separation, isolation, and hostility are terrible things. We are,
sadly, too familiar with all of them in our modern life, whether
we look at world events or events in our own neighborhoods and
families. All three readings today refer to these same sad human
conditions. The prophet Jeremiah describes world conditions as
if the people of his time were sheep who had been scattered by
poor leadership and corrupt shepherds. But “the days are
coming,” he assures us (Jeremiah 23:5), when a new shepherd, a
just king, will come. We meet that king in the second reading and
the Gospel. Paul reminds us in the Letter to the Ephesians that
all divisions can now cease in Christ Jesus, who has brought us
together through his blood. In Mark’s Gospel we see Jesus
himself, looking with pity on those searching for him as if they
were sheep without a shepherd.

Beginning August 1st - Mass Changes
Saturday
With the seemingly inevitable situation we shall soon have,
only one priest, we are left without any choice but to continue to
take advantage of what resources we still have. We thank Msgr.
Andre for his generosity of giving his time and talent for some of
our Masses. I cannot think of any other way without his support.
God is so good that we have Msgr. Andre.
There are changes in the Mass schedule that we shall have to
do. Changes are not always welcome, especially when we have
been rooted, like an institution, stereo-typed Christians, and
some of us are not ready to let go.
The transition process is not easy, such as moving, changing
jobs or your children moving out. It is not always a welcome
process because we have developed emotional “realities” and
“traditions,” and the thought that they will all end is difficult.
We create a wilderness zone. But the question is, “Should we
remain or grow?” It’s up to us. In life there is always a new
beginning, there is a future by our sacrifice of our present
comfort zone.
I ask your precious virtue of patience as we go through this
hard time, and I do ask for your help by keeping me safe and
strong, so that I can serve you even longer, as I have to be in four
different locations of this Parish. This is all I ask, and I know you
will understand.
God bless you, and please keep me always in your prayers.

Each Christian needs half an hour of prayer each day, except when
we are busy; then we need an hour.

Corvette Raffle Update:
The RACE IS ON!!!
Another successful week moving Corvette Raffle tickets and getting
closer to the goal of raising $40,000 for our Parish! At this writing, not
everyone on the committee has checked in as yet, but right now we are
past the 450 mark! And with all expenses now covered, everything else is
profit. We appreciate that so many of you are giving your support with
the “buy one, sell one” (or sell 2) campaign, and it is certainly helping the
numbers go up! We’ve also had several people who are going in together
to purchase a “shared” ticket. This is where 2 or more people go in
together to purchase one. For example: 2 people at $50 each or 4 at $25.
If the ticket wins, they split the cash. We recommend you put a plan
together yourself with a few family members or friends, but the
committee can also help. Just contact your committee representative
using a check, cash or credit card. Please continue to get the word out!
The drawing will take place on Sunday, August 5, from Noon to 3 pm, in
the hall at St. Patrick’s in Angels Camp. This will be a Wine & Cheese
reception where each raffle ticket will be read before putting it into the
drawing drum. All are invited, and we encourage you to come and
celebrate! With only 2 weeks left to go, we need everyone’s help! Tickets
are available from fundraising committee members and at the parish
office.
The goal is BIG, but so is our GOD!
Beginning in August the Parish Council will meet the 2 nd
Monday of each Month at 6:00pm in Murphys Social Hall
