Part 1: Finding a Job—is college worth it?—
Remember to start a new page for each part, and label each step as you go.
 Step 1: Answer the following question (10 points)
1. Respond (in 5-7 sentences) to the following statement, “more education brings a higher income and a
smaller probability of being unemployed.”
 Step 2: Finding a Job ( 45 points)
1. Using a website such as http://www.monster.com/ or jobs.sc.gov or careerbuilder.com or cerr.org (for
educational job) the classifieds in the newspaper, recreate the following chart and fill in the information. You
must print out or attach copies of the actual job advertisement or provide information on where the job
advertisement came from! The jobs must be located in the Swansea, Columbia, or the Lexington area! In
other words, only job search in areas you intend on living after high school.

Reminder: you may hand draw you charts, or recreate them on a computer. (This document is online if you
want to copy and paste the chart)

 What did you learn from your research?

1. Visit the Counseling Center at SHS, or go online and find 3 schools that interest you. School’s websites or
collegeboard.org are great resources! Recreate the following chart and fill in the information:

1. Scholarship—apply for a scholarship and get up to 20 points of extra credit!
o Bring proof of your application (a copy or a confirmation email would
work). Make sure your name is on the application!
