The primary audience for this article is for women. The information helps women learn
more about what obesity is and ways to prevent it like dieting and exercising. Obesity is
the amount of excess fat that is stored on your body. This article gives charts, graphs and
different treatments for obesity to help the audience learn more about the topic. Also this
source displays a BMI chart which shows when a person is becoming obese based on
their Body Mass Index. This is very helpful with my research so I know the exact
numbers. This source is very credible. They have several charts that provide numbers and
statics that are factual. They show that is site is real by producing nonbiased information.
It is also identified as a scholarly publication and from a database.
Bettelheim, Adriel. “Obesity and Health.” CQ Researcher. 15 Jan. 1999:25-48. Web. 11 Feb.
2013.
This article relates to my topic of obesity by sharing facts, showing charts, and giving
real life stories from people that are obese. This article talks about how the extra fat
stored on your body from obesity can cause health problems like diabetes. Also it helps
me learn more about obesity which is something important to know. The best thing about
this article is the stories that people share from their experiences with obesity which is
great for my topic. It makes the source seem more credible and to show how real this
issue is. Also the author has a lot of experience with this topic because it is what he
researches. Obesity is something that can affect everyone at any age. The audience of this
source is for people who want to research more about obesity. This source does fit into
what I need by sharing facts and information about obesity with graphs. This article was
very helpful and credible.
Phillips, Frankie. "Facing Up To Childhood Obesity." Practice Nurse 42.11 (2012): 14-17.
Academic Search Premier. Web. 21 Feb. 2013.
This is a great article about obesity. It discusses how the habits that we create when we
are young can catch up to us when we are older. This can cause health problems and
obesity by not getting the nutrients that we need. Everyone should start good eating
habits at a young age to insure a healthier lifestyle when they get older. Also this article
shows different treatments and ways to prevent obesity. This source does a great job of
relating to my topic by sharing important ways to prevent obesity in children. The author
is a doctor in this field and is very credible and knowledgeable on this topic. He shares
great information that helps me with my research. The audience can be for children or
parents to show how to eat right.
Callahan, Daniel. "Obesity: Chasing An Elusive Epidemic." Hastings Center Report 43.1 (2013):
34-40. Academic Search Premier. Web. 21 Feb. 2013.
This article talks about how difficult obesity can be for people. Having this disease can
cause other health issues. Also it can lead to mental issues. The more people weight then
the more they get judged or made fun of. Some people wish to be smaller but it just not
genetically possible for them. This source really helps me understand a different aspect of
obesity, which is the mental side. People with weight problems often look at themselves
and are not happy with what they see. This source is off of a database and I find it truthful
and credible with the references at the bottom of the page. Everyone is the audience for
this article and can learn something important from it.
Lang, Kellie R. "Parents Of Obese Children And Charges Of Child Abuse: What Is Our
Response?." Pediatric Nursing 38.6 (2012): 337-340. Academic Search Premier. Web.
21 Feb. 2013.
This is a great article that explains the debate about whether or not childhood obesity is a
form of child abuse. Some say that parents should make their children eat health foods
and have them exercise. Others say that obesity can just be genetics. No one is built the
same as someone else so it is hard to say that obesity is caused from just eating unhealthy
foods, there are many factors. Genetics do play a role in how our body is made. This
article is written from pediatric nurses whom deal with child and their body make up.
This shows how credible the article is. Also I got this from a database so the information
in this article has different references to where they found their information. Reading this
helped me see a different side to obesity and realize that some people are just born this
way. This article can help everyone.
Per Södersten, et al. "Children Eat Their School Lunch Too Quickly: An Exploratory Study Of
The Effect On Food Intake." BMC Public Health 12.1 (2012): 351-358. Academic Search
Premier. Web. 5 Mar. 2013.
This article was about how the school lunch program is creating healthier meals for
students. Some parents cannot provide dinner for their child every night so the lunch they
eat at school is the only meal that they are eating. This is why school lunches are
becoming more nutritious. Some of the guidelines they have to follow are calorie in taken
and making sure that every tray has fruits and vegetables. Also parents are not always
giving their children healthy options so this way the schools can provide that for the kids.
I found this article to be credible. I have always had luck with finding information on this
database. Also on this database I have never found information to be untrue. This article
definitely helped me learned more about my topic and how this program is helping kids.
This article is for parents to learn how their children are eating at school.

Normal Weight And Obese Individuals." International Journal Of Eating Disorders 45.1
(2012): 135-138. Academic Search Premier. Web. 5 Mar. 2013.
This article is important for my project. It shares information about eating disorders. One
type of eating disorder is overeating which can cause obesity. Also when people become
overweight or obese they sometimes take a drastic turn to anorexia or bulimia. These
eating disorders cause you to lose weight by either not eating or by throwing up your
food. I found this source credible because it is written about the psychology of obese and
eating disorders. It is so helpful for my topic so that I can show the bad turns people with
obesity can take. Eating disorders are nothing to take lightly. The audience is intended for
people dealing with these problems.
Burke, Lora E., and Jing Wang. "Treatment Strategies For Overweight And Obesity." Journal Of
Nursing Scholarship 43.4 (2011): 368-375. Academic Search Premier. Web. 5 Mar.

Learning about different treatments is important. The article is just about treatments and
ways to help fix the obesity problem. Finding ways to fix something is definitely
important for my topic. I can use all of this information into my project to make it more
credible. One way to treat obesity is surgery. This article is credible because it has plenty
of footnotes at the bottom that direct you to similar topics. This really helped me branch
out to find more information. This article was a great starting place. The audience is for
everyone who wishes to treat their obesity and weight. I will use the information I learned
her into my project.
Flores, G, and H Lin. "Factors Predicting Severe Childhood Obesity In Kindergarteners."
International Journal Of Obesity 37.1 (2013): 31-39. Academic Search Premier. Web. 5
Mar. 2013.
This is a very interesting article that talks about young children. In this article, predictions
are made about kindergarteners and whether they will be obese or not. It says that obesity
has increased 300%. This information was found in kids. As the article continues, it gives
more details about the increasing obesity rate in infants to children to adults. This article
is credible because of all the statics. I find these numbers very useful with my project.
Also all of the statics seem to be factual. People that are looking for obesity statics are the
focus for this article.

Reference To Africa." African Journal Of Food, Agriculture, Nutrition & Development

I found this article helpful. It shared that obesity can deal with your social class. Some
families that have more money can buy healthier foods. The healthier foods that we eat
decrease our chances of becoming obese. Also this article talked about African families
and how they don’t always get the same nutrients that Americans do. This article really
helped. I found it credible with all of the information that it had to offer. Like most
articles that I have found, the intended audience is everyone. Many people can learn from
this source.
