Instructions:
1. Choose one of the following ancient civilizations to research:

2. Research your ancient civilization using the headings on the attached planning sheets.
When planning and organizing ideas, remember to:
- write down the name of your source
-put the information into your own words
During week of April 27 to May 1st class time will be given to research and make notes.
All research must be completed by Monday, May 4th.
3. Students must draw a map of the region. The maps will be presented to the class. Map can be
political, physical, or thematic but it must include:
a. Which continent(s) it is on
b. Where the major civilization is located
c. What major bodies of water is nearby
d. If there are any major physical features (volcanoes, basins, mountains, etc.)
e. The map must be on a poster board, large enough for the class to see.
4. Students must make a timeline of 5 significant events that happened in their civilization.
a. Timeline must be either on a poster board or digital presentation (Prezi, etc.)
b. Include 5 significant events
c. Events include brief description
d. Must be presented to class.
5. Presentations will take place during the week of May 18 th. Students will need to sign up for a day.

- READ! READ! READ! Get to a library! Search the internet for appropriate websites! The
more you inform yourself, the easier this will be and a lot more fun!

-Good presenters don’t read off the screen. They add to what is already there, and engage the
audience by making eye contact.
-Follow the due date guidelines to stay on track!
