If so, then read on, and find out how to join our Warhammer 40K Beginner League. 1 BEGINNER LEAGUE RULES Beginners League meets Tuesdays at 6 PM. League Entry Fee: $10 We have three basic rules that over-ride all others… 1. Adhere to “The Most Important Rule” as much as possible (see BRB pg. 4). We are here for a bit of friendly competition, so make sure your opponent is having as much fun as you. 2. As in life, courtesy is key. Treat your opponent with the same courtesy you’d want... This is a ’social’ game, after all... 3. If a rules discrepancy is causing too much of a delay, see one of the league organizers ASAP for a ruling. Be amenable to the decision the LO makes. What do you need to play? 1. 2. 3. 4. A copy of the Current Warhammer 40,000 Rulebook A copy of the army codex you will be using in the league. One HQ choice and 2 Troop choices from your army codex. Dice, templates, and a measuring tape. A note regarding legal models and rules for the league… As you might imagine, competition in the game industry is very tight. With online discounters and game companies (especially GW) selling directly to the consumer, we have had to make a few rules regarding which models and rules we will allow in the league. Forge World does not support retailers, therefore we do not support Forge World. Forge World models are not allowed. The best place to use Forge World is during an Apocalypse event, which we will host every month. Likewise, GW has taken to selling e-books directly to our customers, many of which do not have hard copy equivalents. Therefore, all e-book rules and army lists which are not for sale as an actual book are barred from league play. There is a hobby component to Warhammer 40,000. People who spend months carefully painting their armies do not want to line up across from an army that has missing heads, arms, etc. To make this an enjoyable experience for everyone, we ask that your models be fully assembled before you field them in a game. They should be modelled with all appropriate equipment (what you see is what you get). For instance, Tau crisis suits need to have their weapons magnetized or glued into place. We are not imposing a painted miniatures only rule, but players will be rewarded for painting their armies! Scratch builds and Chaos: Many armies (especially Chaos) lend themselves to scratch built models. Sometimes a company other than GW puts out a model that looks similar to a GW model. Using 1 or 2 models in your army that are roughly the same size and look like the actual GW model is o.k., but we discourage proxies in general. If you have questions regarding a piece you are planning to build, clear it with the 40,000 League Organizer first. How to Play a League Game The Muster: The Warhammer 40,000 League’s official start time is 6pm every Tuesday. As soon as you arrive, head back to the miniatures tables for muster. We understand that because of traffic, some players may be running late, so we try to wait until 6:30 PM for late players. Players may not play the same person twice unless they have played every other player in the league. If you need help setting up a game, please ask the League Organizer. The Beginner League will utilize missions from the Basic Rule Book only. The League will run for 12 Weeks, 1 game per week. Players who miss the League night can play their game on any night prior to the next meet, but will miss out on the 2 point attendance bonus. Players will play the scenario indicated by the week. No allies or fortifications are allowed. Week 1: Scenario: Crusade. Week 2: Scenario: Purge The Alien. Week 3: Scenario: Big Guns Never Tire. Week 4: Scenario: The Scouring. Week 5: Scenario: The Emperor’s Will. Week 6: Scenario: The Relic. Week 7: Scenario: Crusade. Week 8: Scenario: Purge The Alien. Week 9: Scenario: Big Guns Never Tire. Week 10: Scenario: The Scouring. Week 11: Scenario: The Emperor’s Will. Week 12: Scenario: The Relic. Deployment is as per the rulebook pg.118-119. Terrain is set up as per the rules on pg. 120. Mysterious Terrain and Objectives will not be used for this league. Victory points are awarded as per the scenario being played. The ‘First Blood’ secondary objective will be ignored for the duration of the league for determining individual game victories; however, Slay the Warlord and Linebreaker will still apply. Add up victory points to determine the winner of the game. The person with the most points wins. Building Your Army: Each week you are allowed to add a unit from your army codex as follows… Week 1: Starting Forces. Week 2: 1 Elites Choice. Week 3: 1 Fast Attack Choice. Week 4: 1 Heavy Support Choice. Week 5: 1 Troops Choice. Week 6: 1 Elites Choice. Week 7: 1 Fast attack Choice Week 8: 1 Heavy Support Choice. Week 9: 1 HQ Choice. Week 10: 1 Troops or Elites Choice.
