Pray for our Growth Together Please continue to pray for growth in our Christian community Eternal Father, look with your love on your people of this benefice and the wider Partnership, and pour upon us the gifts of your Spirit. Draw us to you and one another that our growing unity may bring healing of life to all, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. Thought for this week…..by Rev. Nicola Callen I recently went on the EBP retreat to Llangasty in Wales, led by Jo and Michael Selman (if you are even slightly inclined I recommend these retreats to you): the content was about Narnia, not one of my interests- I have read a couple of books, plus other C. S Lewis stuff, but it has not done a lot for me-before. Having enjoyed what was for me, the best content on a retreat ever, I am intending to start reading the Narnia chronicles! I would like to share one aspect with you, but if you would like to know more, I have the full lot of talks from the weekend. It is about the playfulness of God: as shown in the character of Aslan the lion. Aslan, pitted against the wicked queen has given his life as a substitute for another character, Edmund. Aslan lives again, and as he feels his strength returning, becomes playful. With the children watching, I quote” …”he made a leap high over their heads, and landed on the other side of the table. Laughing, though she didn’t know why, Lucy scrambled over it to reach him. Aslan leapt again. A mad chase began. Round and round the hilltop he led them…tossing them in the air with his huge and beautifully velveted paws and catching them again, and now stopping unexpectedly so that all 3 of them rolled over together in a happy laughing heap of fur and arms and legs….whether it was more like playing with a thunderstorm or playing with a kitten Lucy could never make up her mind.” It is not a view of God that we hear a lot about is it? Is God so playful- why not- He loves us ALL so much and revels in being a part of our lives. Priest-in-Charge of Benefice – Rev. Jordan Ling 0117 3304953 Associate Minister – Rev.
