Hill’s FAQ I’m confused about ordering food. What’s the difference between the bookstore food and SCAVMA distributions? For both distributions: -you must be a SCAMA member to participate (DVM student, resident, or faculty) -in addition to SCAVMA dues, you must pay $50 to be part of the SCAVMA Pet Food Program SCAVMA distribution: -distributions will start in October, occur approximately once a month, but will not continue in the summer -a limited selection of Hill’s products are available -you can order 40 lbs of cat or dog food for free -distributions take place at the VMTH hay barn from 5:30-6:30 on Tuesday after the ordering window closes. Any leftover food is given to SCAVMA. Bookstore distribution: -all Hill’s products are available -all products are sold at 60% retail price -distributions will take place year round, once monthly -food is available for pick up at the bookstore during business hours for two weeks, then can be sold to the public at large -there is no limit on the amount of food you can order You said I could order as much food as I want if I pay for it at the bookstore, but HOLOS is only letting me order 40lbs. How come? HOLOS is set up for the 40lb limit as part of the Hill’s College Feeding Program. If you would like more food, just email your student reps the SKU of the item(s) you would like, and the quantity. On HOLOS I don’t see the food I want. Can I order something different than is online? Practically, we can only have a limited selection of Hill’s products available for SCAVMA Pet Food Program distributions, so only the most popular items are included. If you would like to get free food, you’ll have to find the next closest product from the available items in HOLOS. If you must have a specific food, you can place a special order with your Hill’s student reps and purchase it at 60% retail price at the bookstore. My pet needs to eat one of the Prescription Diets. How can I order these? Please email me or physically turn in a prescription from your veterinarian for the diets that you need. Then you will be able to order Prescription Diets online and pick them up at the next SCAVMA Pet Food Program distribution. I didn’t get an email confirmation when I finished placing my order. Has my order been submitted? Probably not. Go back into HOLOS and try to place the order again. If you continue to have problems, send your student reps and email and we can check your order status. I placed my order before the ordering period was open. Did my order go through? No it didn’t. Only orders placed when the ordering window is open will come during the distribution. Resubmit your order when the ordering period is open. When I registered, I marked “graduate student” instead of freshman, sophomore, junior or senior. Does that matter? It matters because the ordering period won’t place your order if your student status isn’t correct. Send your student reps an email if the ordering period isn’t open for you when it’s supposed to be, or if you think you registered incorrectly. Where is the VMTH hay barn? It is located behind B barn, along Garrod drive. There’s a large parking lot that is close by that you can use. If you would like a map, email your student reps and we will send you a map. I didn’t sign up for Hill’s HOLOS at the beginning of the year. Is it too late for me to get food? No, you can always register on HOLOS following the instructions in the original email. If you want to join the SCAVMA Pet Food Program, you will need to pay the $50 fee. If you would like to purchase food at the bookstore for 60% retail price, you don’t have to be a SCAVMA member. I placed my order on HOLOS, and it says I owe $0, but I’m buying a special item from the bookstore. Why is that? Hill’s doesn’t take any money from UC Davis pet food sales, so HOLOS doesn’t charge you anything. However, the Healthcare Vendor Policy dictates that we can only sell the food at 60% retail price. Thus, you must purchase your food at the bookstore when the order comes in. The money from your purchase supports the SVM bookstore and SCAVMA. If it’s part of the SCAVMA Pet Food Program free distributions, then your purchase really is free! Still have more questions?
