CINCINNATI ALUMNAE Ebony Fashion Fair Final Report Name of Program: Ebony Fashion Fair Date of Program/Project: October 31, 2008 Brief Description of Program/Project: Major fundraising chapter event in partnership with the Delta Gateway Foundation, highlighting the 51st Anniversary celebration of the world renowned Ebony Fashion Fair. A big congratulations and violets to our top 3 ticket sellers for the event: * Soror Rhonda Twitty ($100 for her local dues) * Soror Margaret Horton (50 Delta Dollars) * Soror Marie White (25 Delta Dollars) To view or purchase the pictures from the 2008 EFF log on to www.jeromemelson.ifp3.com Location of Program/Project: Duke Energy Center, Cincinnati OH Number of Participants: 617 Committee Observation: CAC, the City of Cincinnati, and surrounding areas were very receptive and excited about the return of the Ebony Fashion Fair to the Cincinnati community. The venue and runway set up allowed every audience member to have a great view of the show and fashions, which allowed for every seat to be considered an excellent seat. The increased number of chapter volunteers allowed for the evening to run smoothly and for the chapter to be highly visible to the city in hosting such a prestigious event. An event date other than a holiday such as Halloween, the increased support of the chapter, sponsors, and donations is needed for future successful events. The committee looks forward to even more chapter support and community commitment for attendance at future CAC events and the EFF. A big THANK YOU to the EFF Committee and the Chapter for their support. 2008 - 2009 28 DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INC. CINCINNATI ALUMNAE Ebony Fashion Fair Final Report cont’d. CINCINNATI ALUMNAE Ways and Means/Golf Outing Report February 21, 2009 We now have the fliers to pass out to golfers. Therefore you now can begin recruiting golfers to play. Again the outing is May 16, 2009 at Walden Pond Golf Course. We are also starting to collect items now for goody bags that will be given to each participant; therefore we ask Sorors to begin bring to next sorority meeting. Also we need sponsors, please begin asking your employers for their support with this endeavor. Also we are asking each Soror to obtain two Hole Sponsors each. Hole Sponsorship is $100. We believe this is where we can make the most dollars due to the economy. Our next meeting will be held Thursday, February 25, 2009 at 7:00 pm at Donatos in Tri-County. Contact Soror Lisa Rowell at (513) 260-3323 and e-mail lrowell@current.net. Respectfully Submitted: Lisa Rowell, Ways & Means Chair 2008 - 2009 31 DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INC. CINCINNATI ALUMNAE Social Action Committee Report The 20th Annual Delta Days in the Nation's Capital is fast approaching. We have at least 5 Sorors, who plan to attend. Registration is officially closed and is sold out. We look forward to taking advantage of the opportunity to interact with a few of our Nations leaders and to move our chapter closer to the goal of “Strengthening Our Legacy”. Plans for Delta Days at City Hall are underway. This event has a twofold mission. First, it will allow our members to witness and obtain first hand knowledge about city management in order to become more informed civic participants. Second, it will provide an opportunity for our members to interact with our local leaders and pose questions about communal concerns. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, April 28 & Wednesday 29, 2009. Due to the success of our first DDCH, we plan to have a similar format where we invite the Mayor, City Manager, Council Members and various City Department Heads to visit with us on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday, we will take advantage of the opportunity to sit in on a City Council meeting, which will begin at 2:00pm. We intend to incorporate as many of your concerns as possible, so once again we encourage you to fill out the attached form to let the committee know what concerns you may have that should be addressed to our City officials. We would like to get a preliminary head count of all of you who are looking forward to participating to sign up today. More information will be forthcoming. The next meeting will be on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 2:00pm, 3252 North Bend Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45239. As an FYI, the mayor will hold his State of the City address on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 6:30pm at Duke Energy Center. As a result, the 2pm Council meeting for that day has been cancelled. Contact our committee at dstcacsac@yahoo.com or call me at 513661-0400 or 513-503-1476 to be included on all Social Action Committee planning correspondence. Respectfully Submitted Soror Deatria T.
