1. accede - When writing a persuasive essay, competent writers accede to
the other person’s point of view as a good argumentative technique.

for arbitrators since the Governor is trying to eliminate collective bargaining
for public employees in that state. The NBA and Players Association often

3. concord – Hopefully, in Wisconsin, the government and the public
employees will reach a concord before there is more protest about the
Governor’s proposal. positive
4. intractable – Stacy is intractable when it comes to her eating habits.

5. obdurate - It’s a moot point to have an argument with Jorge since he has
an obdurate character; he will never see your side. Negative
6. obsequious – When you’re a new employee, you must be careful not to be
obsequious to your boss because your workers may call you a sycophant.

9. reciprocity – The United States and Canada have a reciprocity when it

14. apathy – Ambivalent people show apathy when it comes to making
political decisions.
15. despondent - Current news stories about child abuse is enough to leave
readers in a despondent state.
16. All of the seniors had a sense of euphoria immediately after graduation.
