Evolution Concept Map
Concept Map- Graphical tool used to organize and represent knowledge.
Use your knowledge of evolution to create a concept map with meaningful statements that combine terms
through linking words.
Use the list of 15 words below from the TERMS table to create a concept map. You must add 5 words
from the CHOICE table for a TOTAL OF 20 TERMS on the Concept Map. You can choose which 5
you would like to add from the choice table.

Terms must be linked and create meaningful statements! Chosen terms are to be colored RED
Concept map must be hierarchal.
ALL terms must be linked.
There must be at least 10 cross-links within the concept map colored GREEN.
Think of the map as a branching network, not a linear relationship!
You will be required to individually write a two paragraph reflection on your concept map. The first
paragraph will discuss the main theme and how you connected terms to make sense of this theme.
Elaborate on 2 specific examples from your concept map that aided in your understanding.
The second paragraph is your personal reflection on the project. Did this help you understand evolution?
If so, why? If not, why and what would you propose doing differently for an evolution assessment for
students next time?
Concept Maps are due 3/5. Reflections are due no later than 3/7.
This project is worth 100 points

Full Credit
Shows a complete
understanding of the
20 terms. All 5
choice terms are
colored RED.
No Credit
Shows no
understanding of the
topic’s terms and
they are severely
lacking in number.
20
Partial Credit
Makes some mistakes
in terminology, map
contains less than 20
terms, or not all
choice terms are
labeled RED.

Linking words
create a meaningful
statement that can
be read as a logical
sentence from one
term to another.
Linking words create
statements that cannot
be read as logical
sentences from one
term to another or are
lacking in number.
Little to no linking
words or links create
very inaccurate
statements.
