GOAL 4: THE NORTH SHORE WIB WILL INCREASE , STRENGTHEN AND STRATEGICALLY ALIGN RELATIONSHIPS
WITH FEDERAL , STATE AND LOCAL PARTNERS/STAKEHOLDERS .
Objective #1: Create a marketing plan to educate and increase public understanding of the benefits of the NSWIB and increase interest
and desire of stakeholders to partner with and support the work of the NSWIB.

Updates
We discussed the WIB’s involvement in
the Working Cities Initiative in Salem.
The City was one of 7 to receive funding
along with Lawrence, Fitchburg,
Holyoke, Chelsea, and Somerville. The
City will focus on the Point
Neighborhood and implement a care
pathways program for residents along
with leadership and community
development. The WIB, Career Center,
NSCDC and several local area ABE
providers will play a role in the
development and implementation of
this program for approximately 40
participants over the next year.

The committee also spent time
reviewing the specifications for a RFP
to be released covering the 2014 Labor
Market Blueprint. Key element will
include:
1. More detailed information on
skill needs of the local
industry;
2. Specifics on gaps between
these needs and current skills
of the north shore workforce;
3. Detailed information on
significant occupations within
critical industries, on
occupations disappearing from
the local economy, and on new
occupations developing in the
local economy.
4. 3 Documents to be shared with
the public – (1) Labor Market
Blue Print and Economic
Snapshot (2) Labor Market
Brief less than 10 pages, and
(3) a Youth Specific Labor
Market Blue Print.
Additional partnership grants in the
area of Health Care are in the works
bringing industry and educational
providers together to plan for “patient
Centered home” and implementation
of this across physician groups in the
area.
The AMP it Up grant was discussed and
a listing of teachers and their
corresponding company placements
were shared. The Teachers will come
back to Salem State on March 5th to
work on their lessons plans and finalize
this session of the Amp It Up program.

We discussed the new
manufacturing program that began
in November and shared the news of
a new grant received thru EOHED for
2 Market Managers to cover the
Northeast region and help gather
information about the needs of the
industry…focusing in on the 2000+
manufacturing companies in the
region. The two positions were
advertised with need to have
worked in the manufacturing
industry.
The Next cycle of the Manufacturing
grant will begin a Northern Essex
Community College in April. The 3rd
session will be held at North Shore
Community College (as well as at the
new Voc tech School) in October.
1.7.1 Business Plan is in place

workforce development organizations that
utilize internal talents and experience
