Assignment Sheet: Final Timeline Project
Assignment: Using an online software package (www.tiki-toki-com), create a timeline of important events in Greek history.
Due Date: This project will be completed Friday 4 OCT 2013.
General Description:
You will create an online timeline of important events in Ancient Greece. You will include at least 20 events or incidents in
Greek history that are significant in the rise, development, and decline of that culture. Based on your book, notes, etc.,
create a timeline of 20 (or more) events that seem important in Greek history. You may start as early as the Trojan War
and should include events up to the time of Alexander the Great.

All the notes so far this semester are available online at rtrharper.wikispaces.com


Other useful links, such as videos and other resources, are available there as well.
You may also use your textbook and any study/reading/video guides so far during this unit.
Items to include:
As noted above, you will need at least 20 entries in your timeline. Each entry will include the following:
 Relevant date information
 A short description – minimum three (3) sentences – for each entry you include. This should describe the event or action
taking place, but even more important – EXPLAIN WHY IT IS SIGNIFICANT/IMPORTANT. Better yet, EXPLAIN WHY IT
MATTERS TO THE CIVILIZATION WE INHABIT TODAY.
 A linked image or other media available on the internet, along with a caption to acknowledge its source
 A title image with a caption to acknowledge its source.

Grading Criteria:
This project will take the place of a major test on Ancient Greece. It will count for the equivalent of four (4) daily grades in
my gradebook. You will be graded on the following criteria:
 Completeness – Did you include all the required events? Did you choose enough extra events to meet the
minimum 20 item requirement?
 Relevance – Were your extra events important/relevant/significant enough to warrant inclusion?
 Explanations – Are your explanations sufficient? Do they show me that you know why these events matter?
 Media – Does each event include a relevant picture link? Did you include a caption to give credit to your source?
 Details/Grammar/Spelling/Etc. – Did you so a thorough, professional job with the small stuff?
On the back of this sheet is the grading rubric I will use to evaluate your timeline project.
