Thanks to all for helping to get this information pulled together! o Update on GE Assessment Review section now required as part of Program Planning Report, per Senate Policy 14-5. Details on what is required are posted online here: http://www.sjsu.edu/ugs/faculty/programplanning/index.html. ACTION: MJ will send an email reminder about this policy to Associate Deans for distribution to department chairs. o Scot Guenter raised the issue of clarifying the role of temporary faculty in assessment, particularly given the large number of GE courses taught by lecturers. ACTION: Discussion of the role of temporary faculty in assessment will be added to the agenda for our next meeting. o Update on assessment of Minors – no official CSU policy, but our campus would like to see some type of assessment of minors that are required as part of a major program. Further clarification is still needed on what specific assessment data is needed, and how this should be collected by major programs. ACTION: Revisit this discussion and seek further clarification from UGS. o Review of Senate policy (S13-10) on assessment of certificate programs. ACTION: MJ will send an email reminder about this policy to Associate Deans for distribution to department chairs. o New Degree Qualifications Profile (DQP) from Lumina, available at www.degreeprofile.org. Defines degree qualification standards for Associate, Bachelor’s and Master’s degree levels. May prove a useful resource for programs and colleges to consider in their assessment process. Lynne Trulio presented an Assessment Case Study from the Environmental Studies Department, in College of Social Sciences. LT shared a spreadsheet that ENVS developed that details PLOs and measurable outcomes, mapped to specific courses in the program, and described their annual department retreat in which that year’s assessment data and report are presented and discussed among all faculty. ACTION: LT will share ENVS program assessment spreadsheet with the AF group through Assessment Committee Google Drive. Check-in on Assessment Feedback to programs in each college: MJ shared Assessment Cycle graphic, highlighting the role of AFs in the last step of interpreting results, through annual feedback to programs. Continued use of the WASC Program Learning Outcomes rubric was encouraged, and sharing of new ideas or practices that come out of the feedback process. Ideas/Requests for future meetings o MJ noted that information from several recent WASC trainings she attended will be posted on the UGS program assessment website (Assessment 101, Quantitative Reasoning and Assessment in Majors, and Critical Thinking and Information Literacy).
